"Amazing host in a fantastic location with travel links to the lakes and Penrith city. (Buses run on a hourly schedule, and taxis are very affordable and frequent if needed) although I would recommend taking a car if you can. Black Mesa was fully equipped with everything you need from cooking utensils to game and entertainment. Couldn’t have asked for better host, communication was very easy and Andrew & Charley went above and beyond to help up with a item we need. Would defo recommend staying here and we look forward to visiting again very soon."

"Absolutely amazing! Stayed here for my birthday and we couldn’t have had a better time. The house was perfect, clean, dog friendly and Andrew and Charley had left us with a fresh loaf of bread, eggs from their chickens and a bottle of wine. There was a big book of information from maps of the local area and walks to where to get food, as well as their recommendations for local businesses. Any questions we had were answered so fast! I would stay here again and again and look forward to hopefully returning. Thank you so much!!"

"What an amazing first AirB&B experience!! I’ve always been too nervous to use AirB&B, but I’m so glad we booked here. Everything was absolutely perfect from the location, to the facilities and the hosts. The house is deceptively huge (especially just for the two of us!). It was also spotlessly clean and has everything you need and so much more - including treats, toys AND bowls(!!) for our four-legged child - along with an extensive DVD library and lots of games which we both made use of. The guestbook is also INCREDIBLY thorough and full of so many wonderful recommendations for days out/ places to eat/ local walks - which we also made use of every single day. I don’t actually know what we would have done without the guestbook - so definitely worth a read!! We had days out to Ullswater, Windermere and Gretna Green (and other local towns) all within less than an hours drive!! I really cannot recommend Black Mesa highly enough. It was perfect. We loved it so much. Thank you Andrew and Charley. X"

"Gorgeous property! Pictures don't do it justice. Only a short drive from penrith which has everything you need including supermarkets! Will definitely be returning!"

Black Mesa:

"Black Mesa - the perfect house for a week away at the lakes. Situated in Stainton (a lovely quiet village) just off of the A66 which links you to all the hot spot locations that we all came to the Lake District for! (Ambleside, Keswick, Penrith etc) superstores are a short drive away too! The house is perfect too, all the appliances you could need. The staircase up to the bedroom is fantastic and then the huge glass frontage to look out onto was beautiful too. Excellent value for money, we will definitely be staying here again. Thank you Andrew & Charley for making our holiday just perfect and even going to the effort of getting some balloons together for a surprise birthday trip!"

"This is a wonderful place to stay. We could not be happier with the house and the host! The house was super clean, with beautiful decor, with many games & books, really there is everything you may need. Bedroom is really huge, my girls could stay and live there :)! Andrew and Charley are perfect hosts. They are really nice and helpful. In addition they left a little surprise for us on arrival, what made the start of our stay even more perfect. Also location is excellent, less then 10 min to the lakes and same distance to Penrith. We will definitely be back next year! Thank you!"

"We had the most amazing stay here. The photos don’t do the property justice. It’s brilliantly kitted out, excellent quality throughout, comfy beds, clean, everything we needed. The location is fantastic and Andrew & Charley were amazing hosts, they left a wonderful welcome pack and communication was excellent throughout. We really can’t recommend them and Farriers House enough. One of the best Airbnb’s we have ever stayed in. We will be back!"

"So very pleased and happy with our accommodation at Farrier’s house this week. The owners are very attentive to details. The barn is spacious, airy, so are the bedrooms (2 out of 3 with a TV), bathroom with tub and shower a plus. The open plan mezzanine with dining/living upstairs amazing for gathering family and friends. Very well equipped and stocked throughout with everything you could possibly need to make it a perfect stay and even welcoming essentials. A home away from home as soon as you step in. Plenty of board games/books so you can pack light. An enclosed backyard accessible from the front bedroom or front door, perfect to catch the sun if you are lucky with the weather. Great parking space. The area is beautiful, the village is quaint, well maintained, tucked away from the beaten tracks with the King’s Arms and Brantwood Hotel for on the doorstep drinks and meal options. Plenty of walks/local cycling routes/attractions. Into the woods and fields as you step out. We walked a circular 5 mile loop via Dacre with its church, medieval castle and pub round to Dalemain Mansion and gardens (tea room). So much to see and do in the area, just 10 minutes drive away from Ullswater shores. It felt homely instantly and it’s been great for our family, friends and the doggies. Thank you very much :-))) P.S.: La casita in Penrith for tapas was a great find!"

Please share!! Unfortunately we have just had a last minute cancellation at Farrier's House in Stainton, Cumbria. It is a beautiful property for up to 7 guests which is on the edge of the Lake District and 10 mins from Ullswater. We don't charge for dogs either!

Everything is really well thought out to make this place a perfect home from home! The location is great as you can get to Ullswater in about 10 minutes. We have last minute availability for this week at Farrier's House due to a cancellation from the Tuesday 20th to Saturday 24th July for £150/night plus a £50 cleaning fee and AirBnB fee. Farrier's House is a beautiful, spacious 3 bedroom barn conversion suitable for up to 7 guests on the edge of the Lake District, 10 minutes from Ullswater! There is no limit on the number of dogs and no charge for dogs either.
