NORTHERN CEBU COLLEGES

It is the Oldest Private school in Bogo City formerly known as the Cebu Northern Institute, the Northern Cebu College (NCC) is a school of higher learning located in Bogo, a city i. The original school building is a pre-war structure that still stands today. March 10, 1932 NCC formerly CNI was founded by Don Fructuoso Mansueto Fernan.
Northern Cebu Colleges, Inc. (formerly Cebu Northern Institute) is a private higher educational institution in Bogo, Cebu. It was founded in 1932 by Don Fructuoso Mansueto Fernan, who wanted to provide the indigents of Cebu access to high school education. CNI was renamed to Northern Cebu Colleges in 1950 which was the same year that the college department opened. Sixteen years later, the campus was relocated to an area near the sea. Guided by the mission upon its foundation, NCCI strives to produce students who will become community-oriented professionals.

The college currently offers a Bachelor's degree program in Secondary Education, with available specializations in English, Filipino, and Social Studies. Additionally, it has a high school department that accommodates both Junior High School and Senior High School students. For interested SHS students, the Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) strand and the General Academic Strand (GAS) are available.

BOGO CITY HALL

he New Bogo City Hall is now open for business. Yes, the Local Government of the City of Bogo is now operating in the New Bogo City Hall, sitting at a 6-hectare lot donated by Sra. Nilda Espinosa Martinez and Mr. Robie Hererra.
The said area is in the middle of more than a hundred hectare of flat lands planted with sugar cane and now being converted into a new commercial district. Many companies, entities and business groups are now showing interest already to invest and put up business establishments in the area. The first ever to own lot and will soon start constructing a mall is the Robinsons Land, Inc.
Around the New City Hall will also rise more buildings that will house most, if not all service-oriented Government Agencies that will serve not only the people of Bogo and the neighboring towns, but also the neighboring provinces of Masbate and Leyte.
This project is aimed at boosting economic activities in the City of Bogo and its neighboring towns. Mayor Junie Martinez started this project in 2009. Construction was stopped sometime in 2010 due to the flip-flopping of the Supreme Court decision on Bogo's cityhood status and 15 other LGUs.

BOGO CITY PUBLIC LIBRARY AND MUSEUM

Just across the heritage square is the big plaza/par with a lot of greeneries wherein located a building officially labeled as the city’s “Museum and Public Library”. It’s a wonderful place, I wonder why not every locality in this country erect something like it. It is just a simple structure. Facing it, right wing is the museum and left wing is the library within the library is a fairly-new looking “Community e-Center”. I went in of course.

THE PARISH OF NUESTRA SENORA DE LOS REMEDIOS DE ODLOT

In a quiet yet scenic town of Odlot, Bogo, North of Cebu, known for its beautiful beach, it is one of the most visited pilgrim sites in Cebu because it was here that the Parish of Nuestra Señora de los Remedios de Odlot was enshrined and venerated in the area.

For the last few years, Odlot became a place of miracles since the enshrinement of three images of Virgin in their shrine and became a must visit pilgrimage site in Cebu and it draw thousands of pilgrims from Cebu and other parts of the country. Our Lord must have chosen this quiet area to shower numerous graces to the people of Cebu by sending the Blessed Virgin to the area through finding of her image in plank, then another image covered with honeycomb and the most recent was the weeping of another image of the Virgin.

OUR LADY OF MIRACULOUS MEDAL SHRINE

The Miraculous Medal is a medal that, when blessed, is believed to have the special protection of the Mother of God. It was first called the “Medal of the Immaculate Concepcion” but is now simply known as “The Miraculous Medal” due to the numerous cures and protection given by the Blessed Virgin Mary to those who wear it. Our Lady of Miraculous Medal Shrine in Bogo City was built and erected through the desire of the Parishioners of Bogo, Cebu to spread devotion and share their faith to the residents of Bogo. There were obstacles in the establishing of the holy ground but through faith and time, Our Lady of Miraculous Medal Shrine was finished. The building of the shrine three phases with each phase involving the three major parts of the shrine – the shrine itself, the construction of the Chapellate for the Blessed Mary, and the landscaping of Mary’s Hill.

Location:
The Shrine is located by the side of the road in Brgy. Lapaz, Bogo City. The shrine is located at the top of a hill and has an overlooking view of Bogo City. From the road below, it takes more than a hundred steps to be able to reach the top and visit the shrine. Refreshing winds and a panoramic view of the verdant sceneries of Bogo.

ARAPAL NATURE RETREAT

An organic livestock housing and processing facility which lodgers can take part of as it offers seminars on organic farming and animal husbandry. Arapal Nature Retreat sits on top of Bogo’s Barangay Anonang Sur and was once a Christian Camp, Organic Farm and children’s shelter.

Location: Brgy. Arapal, Anonang Sur, Bogo City, Cebu. Approx. 3 hours away from Cebu City.

How to get there?
It’s going to be a bumpy adventure going in, but if you long for that rejuvenating retreat filled with just nature and secluded ambiance? Bump ahead to Arapal Nature Retreat!
If you’re bringing your own vehicle, just search for “Arapal Hills Viewing Spot” on Waze or Google Maps, the retreat center is just 2 minutes ahead from it. There’s a signage of “Anonang Sur Bogo City” from the eskina to Arapal Nature Retreat. It’s 20 minutes away from the main road.
If you’re commuting, from the North Bus Terminal, ride any bus bound to Bogo City. Stop at San Antonio, Barangay Binabag — it’s the safest stop, your landmark is the Markado before Bogo Central. Bus fare is ₱150 per head. From there, ride a habal-habal to take you to Arapal Nature Retreat, fare is ₱50 per head.

ARCHDIOCESAN SHRINE OF ST VINCENT FERRER

Established as a parish on May 31, 1850, Bogo’s patron was San Vicente Ferrer. Its old church, located near the town plaza, was described as having walls of tabique pampango, posts of wood, and a roof of thatch cogon. The current church of Bogo was built in the post-war era. Bogo City celebrates its annual town fiesta every fourth Sunday of May in honor of its patron saint San Vicente Ferrer.

Archdiocesan Shrine of St Vincent Ferrer church is located at Manubag St, Bogo City.

How to get there:
You may just ride a bus or v-hire going to Bogo City at the North Bus Terminal that would last for approximately 3 hours and then drop-off is at Bogo Proper. Bus fare is ₱160 per head (one-way). Upon reaching the place, you have to ride a pedicab going to the church.

CAPITANCILLO ISLET

The Islote de Capitancillo now commonly known as the Capitancillo Island or Islet, is a small coral island off the coast of Bogo, Cebu on the Camotes Sea. It is marine protected area which means that people aren’t allowed to fish near its waters or leave their disgusting waste. There is a diverse underwater ecosystem near this 6-hectare wide Island and the fishes living there wouldn’t like it if your trash are floating around. Also you could be fined up to P1,000,000 if you were to threaten Philippine marine life. Because this place is a protected marine sanctuary, the Capitancillo Island makes it one of the beautiful diving spots around Cebu.

Location:
Capitancillo Islet is located at the northeastern coast of Cebu province just about 116 kilometers from Cebu City which is in Bogo City.

How to get there:
You may ride a bus or v-hire going to Bogo City at the North Bus Terminal that would last for approximately 3 hours and then drop-off is at Bogo Proper. Bus fare is ₱160 per head (one-way). Upon reaching the place, you have to ride a pedicab going to Brgy. Siocon Bantay Dagat outpost for less than 30mins. Tricycle fare is ₱25 per head. Then, from this drop-off point, and you will then ride a boat that will last for more or less than 45mins.
