Explore Hobart and the south
Old meets new in the island’s capital. Get caught up in history, lost in an underground gallery and dazzled by nature. This is a place of sea cliffs and big waves, tranquil rivers and alpine mountains, cosy bars and provocative art. This is the edge of the world.

Shred trails. Hike mountains. Sip whisky. Shuck oysters. Raft rivers. Bathe in forests. Or slow down. Breathe in. Dream deep.

If you plan to visit Tasmania, it is a great idea to come between December and March. You will experience warm temperatures throughout the day, beautiful scenery and plenty of fun tourist attractions as well. Even though this time of the year can be busy with tourists, all of the major cities -- like Hobart and Launceston -- will still offer good access to more remote locations.

Every season has its advantages, even if it isn't the preferred time to visit Tasmania. If summer is too hot for your liking, you can always take advantage of the warmer months in the form of Tasmania's many festivals and events. They regularly run year-round. And if fall is too cold and wet, maybe some winter activities will make it a little more enjoyable for you. In any case, we hope that we've managed to shed a little light on the different months and seasons of Tasmania and how best to enjoy them.

Tasmania can be properly defined as a land of contrasts, a place of Spirit in Nature. A place where one can find traditions and heritage blended with modern activities and facilities. A place that combines the best of city life and the natural environment. Whether you are an adventure-seeker or a nature lover, there's something for everyone in Tasmania.

If you're still not convinced that Tasmania is filled with worthwhile attractions, head to www.tasmania.com.au/see-do/activities/outdoor-adventuring and see what is on offer. Whether it's fishing, hiking, canoeing, exploring magnificent caves or simply relaxing by the ocean, you'll find it in Tasmania. With so many beautiful natural treasures and cultural attractions, this is definitely a trip worth taking!

World Refugee Day is celebrated annually on 20 June and every year from 2013, Refugee Week Australia has been scheduled during this period of time. Here at RISE, we are committed to doing our bit for the local and international refugee communities when it comes to raising awareness and generating debate on the issues that affect them. We want all Australians to know more about refugees seeking asylum in the country, their circumstances, their needs and how they can help them.

Dark M**o will return to its two-week format for 2022. Dark M**o's creative director Leigh Carmichael announced this morning that the date had been locked in by the Tasmanian Government. Dark M**o held its first winter festival in December 2014 and has run every second year since. The 2018 event attracted 196,000 domestic and international visitors over its 16 days, down from 264,000 across 22 days in 2017, with newly-appointed creative director Leigh Carmichael citing a desire for a "refresh and rethink" for future iterations as one of the key reasons behind the 2018 edition's shorter duration and pared-back lineup of events.

Don't miss out on the latest in Tasmania's most carefree festival, Dark M**o, which will return to its two-week format in 2022.

What makes Tasmania a magical place?

We don't even know where to start. Living in Tasmania is a mix of happiness and euphoria, tranquility and adventure. Living around here means being in contact with the community every day, being listened to, being able to interact and be heard. How not to love Tasmania? A place so beautiful must be heaven on Earth.

Most places don't get anything done beyond sweeping their streets. Every detail and all of the way through are looked after, and every requirement is fulfilled. Tasmania is a place full of poetic, friendly, and sweet people, who are ready to help. You cannot call this place monotonous or boring because there's always something unusual and amazing to discover.

Be ready for your travel
When planning travel, there are additional things to think about to help you stay prepared and safe. This includes putting contingencies in place should you be required to quarantine as a close contact or isolate if you catch COVID-19 during your travel, and knowing what requirements may be in place to reduce the risk of COVID-19.

Travel restrictions and border entry requirements can change quickly. Tasmanian residents and visitors should stay informed about current travel alerts

Round three! 🙌🗺️🚗 (repost from ABC Hobart )

From today, Tasmanians can register to receive a $300 travel voucher for holidaying around the state.

But this time, the Make Yourself At Home vouchers will be allocated by a ballot system -- we have five days to enter, and successful applicants will be notified from 11 August.

$200 of the voucher can be used for accommodation and $100 for tourism experiences.

This time they'll be valid during weekends, but must be spent before the next school holidays (25 September).
