The cold snap is real in Scotland this week, but it didn't stop Evan from coming out for a 6:30am running tour this Tuesday. According to Google it "felt" like -9C!

Still had a blast enjoying some great night time views of Edinburgh!

What a weird and wonderful setting for this morning's in Edinburgh!

Alden and I didn't realise how blocked up the Old Town was going to be with all of the events surrounding Operation Unicorn! Peaceful reflection at Victoria Street following by the unusual roar of a crowd and 100s of police officers at 7am on a Tuesday!

"I sure booked the best day for a run tour" says Alden! You sure did pal! Less running, more exploring cordons and police barriers!

Today was a truly unique experience. I mean each run is unique, but this one was extra unique! I suspect I'll never see snipers in broad daylight on the roof of St Giles Cathedral again in my life (third photo of post!).

Practicing the "0.5x Selfie"!

Times are changing in Edinburgh. The buskers are gone, the streets are clean and the bins empty! (For how long??) Weather has dipped ever so slightly, just enough for a long sleeve running top!

Showing Vivian 🇩🇪 around Edinburgh was a pleasure today! I love pointing out the unicorns 🦄 around town! Why be bound by geography and biology to choose a national animal when you can pick it out of a story book instead?

I love a good Canadian 🦫 catch up! Reminds me of living large at Vancouver BC!

"The Unicorn... it's no Beaver though, aye". My lines are immaculate, the Fringe is rubbing off on me.

Me: "I never saw a Moose while in BC, but I imagine it's the size of two fridges and has four legs?"

Alan: "It's actually like three fridges"

We had a great run and laughed all the way from start to finish.

Morning Run Tour with Shen 🇸🇬 (), Julinda 🇸🇬 and Victoria 🇺🇸 and Edinburgh turned the day up. Well, except for the one overflowing bin we saw 🤷‍♂️🙏

Shen and Julinda are visiting Scotland for the first time and decided to get to know the city with a morning run. Who knew that there is a difference between British and US Cup sizes? Thanks Chef Shen! "If a cookbook is not in metric, I don't buy it". Can definitely subscribe to that motto!

Victoria was visiting Edinburgh on her way up to St Andrews to do her masters! Awesome! "Are you studying more the computer side or people side in your computer/people interface studies?". Go me with the sophisticated questions!

Yesterday Alex was taking the photos!

All the way over from Toronto 🇨🇦 checking out the sights in Edinburgh. Been a moody week this one. We got a little rain and lots of mist on the run. Check out the Scott Monument photos!

Busy morning at Rise and Run Tour HQ (ermm, I mean Edinburgh)!

7 am start running tour with Francis, all the way over from India to reacquaint himself with Scotland! What a storyline! Francis studied to become a surgeon at the University of Dundee in the early 00s but this was his first visit to the UK since! A self declared 21 years ago! He came to the UK to give the London-to-Edinburgh-to-London cycle ride a go and was now visiting Scotland afterwards. What a legend!

Following our goodbyes, I ran to the start line of Holyrood parkrun and pushed the buggy over the hill. Views were stunning. It was also really neat to bump into my pal from yesterday's run tour who took my advice and came to check out the awesome Holyrood parkrun! Ace!

A full heart and tired legs right now. Happy running team!

Sunny mornings!

Tour this morning saw us explore the both New and Old Town, reminiscing on how changes for festival month. The city is brimming with visitors and locals alike looking for a laugh and a pint. The weather has been marvelously playing along, almost too hot at times!

A morning run tour allows for some exploration while most of the festival vibes are still asleep! A calm before the storm 😀.

Holyrood parkrun! 👶🦽🏃‍♂️🔥🔥

This is Edinburgh's latest running addition. Today was only the at Holyrood Park. It is awesome. But that course.. it is equal parts brutal and breathtaking!

A 5km loop at the base of Arthur's Seat! It features 88m of elevation gain and descent. The views are phenomenal though. I will go out on a limb and claim it to be the most picturesque parkrun in any city in the world! And it is only 1 mile away from - right in the city!

What is ?? A timed 5km run on every Saturday morning starting at 9.30am sharp. Completely forever.

🐘 Elephant in the gardens.

Edinburgh is the home to a number of animal statues. One of these is the bronze elephant in Princes Street Gardens.

The elephant looks cuddly and playful but there is a deeper story behind it's is existence.

Here is my understanding:
For some forty years parents of stillborn babies from one of the Edinburgh crematoriums were told that there were no ashes to be returned to them. However this turned out not to be the case and the scandal was uncovered in 2012, where it was discovered that babies ashes had been buried at a secret site at the crematorium.
This elephant stands in Princes Street Gardens as a memorial to hundreds of stillborn babies whose ashes were buried.

A sad story 😞. Elephants never forget and these wee ones will not be forgotten by their families.

A day late!

Yesterday morning I had an amazing run with on one of our morning run tours. For the first time in a out 100 completed tours it actually rained for the majority of the run!

I am equally as perplexed by this realisation! Just goes to show that Edinburgh doesn't always deserve the bad weather reputation it gets by default. Maybe 7am is the golden dry hour!?

Abby had already spent a wee bit of time exploring Scotland and Edinburgh. It was really cool to share experiences about our running careers. Good luck with knocking off the marathon majors Abby!

Friday tour day!

7.00 am start for a balmy tour around Edinburgh. Really enjoying the warmer weather in Scotland.

Johan () joined me for a morning run tour today. We just missed the rain - I am yet to run a tour in the rain. Coincidence? I think not!

Johan's been a victim of all the Heathrow drama with flights out of the UK cancelled last minute. Quick train up to Edinburgh and here we were running through the city today.
