The first thing a guest is offered at a Bhutanese home is a cup of steaming tea with either milk or butter. By its side, a trusty companion awaits- zaw (puffed rice) or beaten corn. Teas are the go to drink during every occasion, whether it’s a casual get-together with friends, during religious rituals or celebrations. A cup of tea will be your trusted ally, keeping you warm and refreshed as you venture through the valleys of Bhutan.

Held in the Kingdom's central administrative and religious center, Tashichhodzong, Thimphu Tshechu is one of the biggest and grandest religious and social celebrations in Bhutan. Although the public attends the festival over the course of three days, monks make preparations months in advance. The day and night before the actual festival, prayers and rituals are conducted to invoke the deity. For three days, mask dances are performed, like the Guru Tshengye (Eight Manifestations of Guru Rinpoche), Shaw Shachi (Dance of the Stags), and others. It is an excellent opportunity to immerse yourself in the Kingdom’s culture and mingle with locals who are dressed in their finest gho and kira.
This year, Thimphu Tshechu will happen from 24th-26th September.

Paro Taktsang, known as the 'Tiger's Nest', stands as one of Bhutan's most renowned monasteries, attracting admirers from around the globe. Perched precariously on a cliff, it offers breathtaking views of lush forests and the Paro valley. Taktsang has become one of the the first things that you see when you search for Bhutan on the internet. Equally captivating is the origin story of this remarkable structure. Legend has it that in the 7th century, Guru Rinpoche flew to the current temple site on the back of a tigress and meditated in a cave to subdue an evil demon dwelling there. Subsequently, in 1692, Paro Taktsang was constructed within the same cave. Beyond its religious significance, Taktsang is a must-visit destination that showcases the beauty and grandeur of Bhutanese architecture. Any journey to Bhutan remains incomplete without a visit to the iconic Paro Taktsang.
