Last days of skiing šŸŽæā›·ļø

ā†’ Visited 5 ski parks (4 new ones!) this season, thanks to the Powder Alliance! ā„ļø

ā†’ The 5 were: Bear Valley, Mt. Shasta, China Peak, Dodge Ridge, Sierra-At-Tahoe (I think Iā€™ll write reviews!).

ā†’ If you have a ski pass from any ski resort, look online and read the fine print to see if that enables you to be part of the Powder Alliance to visit other ski parts for free or low-cost admission (ps there are black out dates).

ā†’ Continuing to do more Blue runs, and a couple attempts at Blacks (but they felt more like blues)

ā†’ More confidence in skiing in deeper powder, and still falling a ton in itšŸ˜… but breezing through groomers and some powder no problem!

Travel has definitely shown me Iā€™m a girlā€™s girl!

Iā€™ll tell you to let me know when youā€™re back home/at your hotel, Iā€™m the stranger who hands you a tampon or pad if you need it, and I know girl code.

Oh, and if you have something in your teeth! (And tell you if I thought your partner was cheating on you šŸ˜‰)

I love meeting other women across many lands and cultures around the globe who are girlā€™s girls too!

Thank you for looking out for me during my travels, and reminding me a community is important!

I met these ladies on my expedition trip to Antarctica and they all exemplified and amplified šŸ”„ our shared values.

Now who wants to join me on a hike?

Postcards from Tierra Del Fuego National Park šŸžļø

Wear layers and be prepared for windy spots, wild horses and beautiful mountain views!

Itā€™s been a dream of mine to see Patagonia and I know I have to return because I barely scratched the surface.

Thatā€™s Chile over there! (Past the lake.)

I went to the hot spots at the end of the world and it reinforced to me that I needed to come back to explore more of the Patagonia- both the Argentine and Chilean side.

For many years, I told myself that I wouldnā€™t repeat trips because there was so much to see in this world (and everything costs money). I still very rarely do. But knowing the fact that I wonā€™t see everything in this lifetime makes me think that maybe in 5 years Iā€™ll repeat some of my tripsā€¦ I have a list nowšŸ˜

Are you like me and donā€™t revisit places? Where do you revisit time and again?

Year 35: Itā€™s only up from here! Metaphorically true in my life, too. ALOHA from when I ascended the tallest mountain on Earth šŸ‘‹šŸŒŗ

Mauna Kea is the tallest when measured from its base to the top (the mountain is mostly underwater). Measured at sea level it is at 13,803 feet [4,207 meters].

> This is a dormant volcano šŸŒ‹
> You need a 4WD to drive up here (or join a tour like I did)
> The high elevation and dry air lends to perfect conditions for observing the sky, hence the multiple telescopes
> Is sacred to native Hawaiians because they believe that it is where it bridges heaven and earth. The summit of Mauna Kea is where the gods live šŸ’«

Meanwhile, Mount Everest is the tallest mountain on Earth ABOVE sea level at 29,029 feet [8,848 meters].

This is just one part of a tour that I went on. Lmk if you want to hear more!

Side quest and snaps from Uruguay šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡¾

This was never on my bucket list. Thanks to a colleague at work who gave me a heads up about this spot that was a fairly short ferry ride away-

So many cobblestones! The Europeans were definitely here back in the day. (Being here also reminded me of being back in Old San Juan in Puerto Rico.)

I also recommend taking out cash even if youā€™re just here for the day because hardly anyone in town took credit cards.

I finally found a spot that would take a credit card (VISA) but I had the worst burger for lunch ever. Ah wellšŸ˜… At least their lemonade drink was šŸ’Æ (a plus since itā€™s usually too acidic for me).

Layovers and stopovers are side quests in my book.

Where was your last side quest?

It was my birthday yesterday! I know I look 24 and Iā€™m going to milk it as long as I can. Itā€™s weird that Iā€™m in my mid 30s now. 35!! Frankly Iā€™m sad about it. Something about this one hurts a lot. (TBH hasnā€™t it been an emotionally charged month so far??)

Yesterday was such a rollercoaster personally. Original plans fell through but the universe sent me angels. Truly Iā€™m GRATEFUL that everything worked out. More on that later-

I look forward to what positive changes the years will bring and what magic I can createāœØ

Another thingā€¦ I canā€™t decide if I want to be savage or soft this yearā€¦ probably both. Especially since I know yā€™all like reading/hearing about my travel tales and shenanigansšŸ˜‡ (And right now in my life it calls for both even though Iā€™d rather not.) To be clear, I donā€™t do things for the plot, things just happen to me!

Thank you for all the birthday wishes!!šŸ’›šŸ’› I will respond back momentarily šŸ˜†

šŸ‡¦šŸ‡¶Iā€™m Claudeen, Iā€™m 34 and earlier this month, I stepped on my 7th continent!!šŸ§

This is my number one travel destination and a dream of mine since I was a kid.

No Iā€™m not rich. Yes I come from humble beginnings. Itā€™s been a huge privilege to be able to make this dream of mine happen. Iā€™m so grateful and I still canā€™t believe I was here!!

I post this to reiterate that you are not your past, and if you want something enough, you too can make your dreams come trueāœØ

This is a reminder to look up from your phone to be present in the moment!

Iā€™ve been buried with work and driving that I only recently noticed the leaves on trees changing and that itā€™s getting colderā€¦ so much so that I finally put my electric blanket on my bed last week!

I miss summer and the warmthā˜€ļø I look forward to my warm weather travels.

Are you escaping someplace warmer this winter, and if so WHERE?

TGIF. Time for rest.

I was at this spot last month. Little did I know I was going to drive past this again a couple more times while driving around for work šŸ˜† I can say that this spot is a great one to see a great view of the city and watch the skies change at sunset!

Do you recognize this famous landmark?

šŸŒŠIā€™ve always been in love with Big Sur, and itā€™s one of my favorite places. A huge statement, even for me.

āœØā€œMagicalā€ would be one word to describe it. On my very first visit the colors of the dramatic coastline wooed me. I was awestruck and couldnā€™t look away. My phone was filled with endless photos and videos of it. But most of my trips here have been overnight 1-2 night backpacking trips- a huge bucket list item for the adventurous. An item Iā€™ve happily checked off multiple times off my list!

šŸ„¾Very rarely do I do day trips, but on this visit I did a few short and easy hikes. Trails Iā€™ve never done. I also realized I havenā€™t visited here in the last two years.

Itā€™s been awhile, old friend.

For the prospective visitor- there is more to it than the Bixby Creek Bridge.

What do you want to know about Big Sur?

(Iā€™d love to write more info on a blog post or two!)

*Always trying to figure out how to extend my trips šŸ˜‡ *

Depending on the airline, if youā€™ve booked a flight with points and miles, it makes it easier to modify your flights (with US-based airlines, domestic trips). Say you have to cancel a round trip flight on Southwestā€¦ your miles and taxes are 100% refunded. Same for Alaska Air and United.

Itā€™s nice to have options!

What was your last experience with modifying a flight?
(NOTE: This isnā€™t the same with International flights. Though I will say a previous client extended her trip to Costa Rica for a day or two and she did not have to pay a centā€¦ but this is a rarity, and not the norm.)

Iā€™m back!

I put a poll out last week about sharing travel and wellness content. Iā€™m always going to share travel, but unsure about the wellness piece. What I got out of that isā€¦ share it in small doses?

Iā€™ll continue to post 2-3 times a week. (Itā€™s fun for me, really.) Posts on IG are fun/random highlights though. Personally Iā€™m going to focus more on blogging expanded travel info since IG isnā€™t quite the right platform to search for information in general. Sometimes I wish Ctrl + F was an option on my IG posts!

How are you, and tell me something new in your life!

Iā€™ll have a travel/wellness post out soon ā˜ŗļø

How to live better: Ask yourself this. Are things or situations in alignment to your authentic self?

Life lately: Deep reflections, planning, reading and *trying* to get outside.

Wrapping up skiing (more posts to come!) from my last visit to another ski park.

1. With my season pass from another ski park, I only paid $25 for admission at this one.

2. First chair lift, easy peasy run

3-4. Those are trees frozen with snow. They look like whipped cream to me šŸ˜†

5-6. The famous bowl. (Looks amazing, and scary!!)

7. Another shot of one of the whip cream trees, and a soccer ball āš½ļø

8. I think this was taken on my first run, and this was when I realized my legs were sore! (This is the most Iā€™ve ever skied in a seasonšŸ’ŖšŸ½)

This ski park was probably the smallest out of the three I visited this year. All the runs here were Blues šŸŸ¦ or Black ā—† with the exception of only ONE greenšŸ˜®ā€šŸ’Ø It wasnā€™t a beginner spot for sure. And the quality of the snow? Mehā€¦ most of the runs were ICYYYšŸ„¶ I much prefer more powder.

My last takeaway from this is that not all ski parks have equivalent level runs. Ex. A blue might be graded a green at another ski park.

Which photo is your favorite?
