We were hoping to be opening for hosting this summer, but we’ve unfortunately hit a snag. The community where we’re placing the tiny home is still being built, and its completion date has been pushed back by almost a year. The good news is we’ll use this year to make everything absolutely PERFECT for you! Thank you for being patient with us, and I hope you’ll continue to follow us for updates and info on local happenings!

It’s all coming together! Check out that gorgeous ceiling! The butcher block countertops in the kitchen will be stained to match 😍.

The first and third pictures are views from the front porch into the house. From here, you can see the loft that will be accessible from stairs on the right, the doorway into the bathroom and the doorway into the master bedroom. Plus, check out that large living area (for a tiny house)!

Is there anything better on Valentine's Day than snuggling up in front of a fireplace? Okay, maybe some wine would make it better...and some chocolate.

Next year, we've got you covered with all of that. Our tiny house will be the perfect, cozy spot to escape with your loved one. With a stone fireplace in the living room, romantic string lights on your private porch, and a main floor queen-size bed, the mood will already be set for you!

Is Galentine's Day more your speed? No problem! There will be plenty of room for you and your besties with a queen-size loft and more sleeping space in the living room. Not to mention the smart TVs for all the chick flicks your hearts desire. Order yourselves some pizza from Sidewall Pizza Company (trust us) and pop some bottles of prosecco!

January 23rd is....wait for it...🥁

National Pie Day!

In honor of this special dessert, our local spotlight this week is Strossner's Bakery, Cafe & Deli!

Southern Living named Strossner's as the #4 best southern bakery of 2022! Here's what they wrote about this iconic Greenville bakery:

"Founded in 1947 by Richard Strossner Sr., a German immigrant and ocean liner pastry chef, Strossner's Bakery Cafe & Deli (the oldest family-owned Bakery in Greenville), is now celebrating its 75th anniversary. Passed down through generations of the Strossner family, and currently owned and run by Tapley Strossner, the bakery produces fine layer cakes, pastries, and breads. Don't just stop in for their famous king cake: Strossner's offers sandwiches, warm soups (cozy up to a bowl of their tomato bisque), and fresh casseroles for takeout or delivery."

Just because today is National Pie Day, it doesn't mean you can't indulge in one of their many other treats! That being said, their website features 15 different pies to choose from!

Eager to see what The Folksy Grove Cottage will look like from the outside? We are too! 😅

The Folksy Grove is still being built, so we took it upon ourselves to edit a photo of a similar model (by our builder) to look like our vision of the Cottage.

As you can see, it’s going to have a spacious, screened in Front porch with black, white, and cedar accents, cedar-toned siding with black shutters, and plenty of natural light through those windows!

We can’t wait for it to be done so we can share the final look with you all!

✨ I live in the Northeast, but I travel to the South every chance I get!
✨ I live with my husband, John, our four-year-old son, Connor, our Bernese Mountain Dog, Guinness, and our cat, Sully.
✨ We're expecting our second son in April of this year!
✨ I love relaxing outside with a good book, binge-watching Netflix on lazy days, drinking sweet wine and hard cider (when I'm not pregnant 😝), and eating all the Southern food I can get...biscuits, anyone?
✨ Hosting, decorating and finding awesome local experiences are my bread and butter, so I can't wait for our tiny house to be up and running for all our future guests!

We won't be going live and accepting bookings until the tiny house is built and situated in the Mountain Grove Tiny Home Community, but we want to give anyone who's interested in staying the opportunity to book their stay first! If you're on the waitlist, when we are ready to accept bookings, you'll be contacted in the order in which you joined the waitlist to get first dibs on booking your dates! Start planning your trip to the greater Greenville, SC area now, and get on our waitlist ASAP! We are *hoping* to open for guests at the end of May or beginning of June!

Let's get real, a lot of people complain about because of the extra fees and the list of chores you need to do before checking out of some places (we know how it is!).

HOWEVER, we want to do things differently to make your life easier. We're going to get rid of as many hidden fees as we can, and our checkout instructions will be as simple as we can make them.

So, if you're not going to stay in Airbnb, or another short term rental, what's the alternative? Hotels. Don't get me wrong, I love a hotel when I need a quick one-night stay or stopover somewhere. On the other hand, I'm a light sleeper, and sharing walls, ceilings and floors with other rooms is just not ideal for me. Also, if you're like me, you know what you want to binge watch when you're relaxing, and you don't feel like watching some random show on cable. Speaking of winding down, it's pretty hard to do when you're not sure if the bed linens are clean! I like to believe that hotels regularly wash and change all the bed sheets, but I know it's not required for them to clean duvets, duvet covers, or comforters. 🤢

All of that aside, are hotels a necessity sometimes? Absolutely. BUT, if you're planning a vacation, whether a trip with your partner, friends, or a family trip, wouldn't you like your own space? Wouldn't you like a separate bedroom, a living room with a fireplace, a full-size kitchen, and a loft? Wouldn't you like to wash your clothes in your own washer and dryer before heading home? Wouldn't you like to spend those vacay evenings sitting out on your own, screened in front porch? Of course you would!

What's one of the best things about staying at The Folksy Grove Cottage? Its proximity to over 20 breweries! Just outside Travelers Rest, Greenville is #7 in the US for breweries per capita! Sign up for a brewery tour with , or head out on your own Brewmiceter Hops Hunt ()! In Greenville, there are little mice hidden around eight local breweries waiting to be found! With new breweries opening in the area each month, you'll have no trouble quenching your thirst when you come stay with us 😉.

The closest brewery to The Folksy Grove is , which is located right off the famous in Travelers Rest, SC. Also off the Swamp Rabbit Trail is , which serves over twenty beers and various wines! Although it's not a brewery per se, it's a must-visit when you're in Travelers Rest!

We are so excited for this week's local spotlight, ! They were the first local business to reach out to us about offering awesome experiences for our guests, and we can never get enough of all the alpaca cuteness on their page!

Alpaca Southern was established this year and is home to three adorable alpaca boys, Charlie, Ollie, and Reggie! If you want to spend time with these special boys, Alpaca Southern hosts photo shoots, birthdays, paint parties, alpaca yoga, and meet & greets! They also have a ew alpaca products for sale, such as hand spun yarn, felted keychains, felted soap, and more! You might have even seen them featured on Fox Carolina!

We’re generally not ones to argue with TLC, but in this case, we think you SHOULD go chasing waterfalls. In fact, there are at least 15 waterfalls within an hour of The Folksy Grove Cottage! Pack a picnic, throw on your hiking boots, take some pictures that will make all your friends and family jealous, and then come back for a cozy night at The Folksy Grove tiny house!
