We saw first hand what is possible when we accompanied a disabled client to Botswana earlier this year.
As someone who spends much of his time in his chair, he had a comfy seat in the 4WD vehicle with a front row view of the action. Add in fresh air, sunshine, beautiful landscapes, and the sights and sounds of Africa together with delicious food and caring staff. What’s not to love!

Qorokwe - what a fabulous name for a fabulous camp. It means ‘the place where the buffalo broke through the bush into the water’. Situated in the Okavango Delta, Botswana, between two permanent rivers, it is a wildlife haven.
This camp is contemporary in design and has a wonderful calm feel about it. There are just 8 tented suites + a family unit with its own splash pool. Food is locally sourced and seasonal.

For those who like more traditional style camps, Selinda lies on an offshoot of the Linyanti River in a 130,000 hectare private reserve where northern Botswana borders Namibia. There are just 3 tents and a separate private villa for 4.
A soaring thatched dining area and bar overlook water where elephants come to drink. Zanzibar style doors welcome you into your spacious tent with rugs and campaign style furniture and a magnificent copper bath. Outside is a large verandah with private plunge pool (and exercise bike should you be that way inclined!)

Wild dogs (or painted wolves) are critically endangered so to see a large pack of 14 was very exciting. But when a large elephant started trumpeting and chasing them away it was a wow moment! They had just hunted successfully and were covered in blood.
Botswana is one of the best places to have a chance of seeing these wonderful animals.

Our clients at Jao Camp were keen to see hyenas. We had only had a glimpse of a tiny cub hidden in the undergrowth (see last photo) until we spotted a fully grown pair out in the open on the clients’ last day. We abandoned our lion quest to follow them and were rewarded when they came quite close and we could see that one had lost his tail recently. It was very likely an argument with lions when attempting to steal their kill.
