#thecottagevacations #hummingbirdmoth
Check out this busy little hummingbird moth that visited my parent’s garden just across the lake from The Cottage.
The honey bees are busy collecting nectar to make honey for guests of The Cottage. We are proud to partner with local small businesses such as C&D’s bees who provide honey from their beehives for our welcome basket. Their hives are located right in the Pine City area. You can even spot one on the roof of a shed right on the lake!

We even have flying fish at The Cottage 🤣
Little Harrison paddling the canoe. Make memories like these with your kiddos at The Cottage. ❤️
#WildlifeWednesday
The pheasants are out and about and strutting their stuff.
#SereneSaturday: First bonfire of the season! We even had some fun with a “colorful flames” packet tossed in the fire.
American Dagger Moth Caterpillar
#wildlifewednesday: The American Dagger Moth Caterpillar
This dagger moth caterpillar turns into a medium sized moth. The American dagger moth can be spotted from April to September and the Caterpillars can be seen from July to October. They are easily spotted with their bright yellow color. But don't let their cartoon appearance fool you, you are not going to want to pick this critter up. The yellow and black spikes on them fall off and embed themselves, and toxins, in skin, causing a stinging sensation. Picking up these caterpillars can cause burning, itching, and even a rash.
#ThingstodoThursday: Fishing
Whether it's catch and release or tomorrow's dinner, fishing at The Cottage is great fun for all ages. Lake Pokegama boasts over 1500 acres of fishable water and is approximately 25 feet deep at its deepest point. Fish the lake for crappie, sunnies, and walleye, or take the boat upriver and fish for northern pike and smallmouth bass. Either way, you are in for a fun time full of memories and "fish stories"!
