An absolutely incredible turnout today as public and private stakeholders, and members of the Hwange community gathered together to conduct a mass clean-up campaign in and around Hwange National Park in support of the National Clean Up Campaign in Zimbabwe.

The commitment shown to the clean up today reflects the pride that the Hwange community has for Zimbabwe's largest National Park, and the days events increased the unity and solidarity of the stakeholders and community in their efforts to ensure the environmental integrity of the place that they call home is maintained, and that this incredible tourist destination stands ready to welcome all visitors.

The elephants of Hwange even came out to see what was going on as captured in some of the images where two groups were separated between the Herd crossing 🐘🐘

Heartfelt thanks go out to everyone involved in today's clean-up effort.

Today the community and stakeholders in and around Hwange have stepped out in force to conduct a Hwange-wide clean-up campaign in their collaborative efforts to maintain environmental integrity and cleanliness, and as part of their increased sustainability drive.

Today our Hwange Stakeholders began vaccinations in the continued efforts to ensure Zimbabwe is a safe destination for travellers eager to begin travelling in the near future. Over the course of the next few days it is anticipated that majority of the tourism stakeholders and National Parks staff will have been vaccinated.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Ministry of Health and Child Care, The Ministry of Environment, Climate, Tourism and Hospitality, ZTA, our health care workers and all the tourism stakeholders in Hwange for the collaboration and collective efforts to prepare for recovery of tourism to our region and Zimbabwe as a whole.

Zimbabwe has banned mining in its national parks in response to protests after permits to explore for coal in one of the world’s premier elephant reserves were awarded to Chinese companies.

We are delighted with the news coming out that following a cabinet meeting held today, the Government of Zimbabwe have announced that "Mining in areas held by National Parks is banned with immediate affect. Steps are being taken to immediately cancel all mining permits in National Parks"

Thank you to everyone for the support to appeal to our government! This is a huge conservation success story and shows the importance placed on tourism and the conservation of our biodiversity and National Parks in Zimbabwe!

We thank the President, and our Minister of Environment, Climate Change, Tourism and Hospitality as well as all those in Cabinet for hearing our plea and putting the long term protection of our Natural Heritage first.
