Disneyland vs. Disney World. Which is best for you?

1. Where are you located? If you’re looking for something closest to you, Disneyland is on the west coast while Disney World is on the east.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2. What time of year do you want to go? The summer weather in Anaheim can vary greatly from the humid air in Orlando. The best park to go to can sometimes depend on the time of year and the season.

3. How long do you want to do for? Disneyland is only 2 parks where Disney World is a massive property that you’d need a week to scratch the surface. If you’ve only got a few days, Disneyland might be the better option, but if you’ve got a whole week, Disneyland might get a little boring.

I am SUPER excited that dining plans are coming back to Disney World. Here’s the low down on Disney dining plans…

There are 2 plans available for people arriving to Disney after January, 9th 2024. We’ve got the Disney Quick-Service Dining Plan and the Disney Dining Plan.

Here’s what’s included in the Quick-Service plan:

🍔 2 Quick-Service meals per night per person
🍿 1 snack/nonalcoholic drink per night per person
🥛1 Resort-refillable drink mug per person that can be refilled at any Disney Resort hotel Quick-Service location

Here’s what’s included in the Disney Dining Plan:

🍽 1 Table-Service meal per night per person
🍔 1 Quick-Service meal per night per person
🍿 1 snack/nonalcoholic drink per night per person
🥛1 Resort-refillable drink mug per person that can be refilled at any Disney Resort hotel Quick-Service location

All meals include beverages and the option to sub a beverage for beer, wine, or a cocktail (for 21+ with valid ID).

For Table-Service meals, its recommended to make a reservation since it’s not always guaranteed you’ll get a table somewhere.

You can also use 2 meal credits for Fine/Signature dining, select character dining experiences and dinner shows. Reservations are HIGHLY recommended for these experiences.

The amount of meals and snacks you have depend on the number of nights you’re staying at your hotel, but you can use them whenever you want…

For example, if you’re staying for 2 nights, you have 4 meals (the type depending on the plan you choose) and 2 snacks. You can use all of those on your first day or spread them out however you like. It’s totally up to you.

Here are my thoughts as to why staying on Disney property for your Disney vacation is the best choice for your budget and your trip.

1. Proximity to the Parks

One of the most significant benefits of staying on Disney property is the proximity to the theme parks. The majority of Disney resorts are located within a short distance of the parks, which means you can easily walk or take a short shuttle ride to and from the parks. This saves time and hassle, as you don't have to deal with the crowds and traffic of the surrounding areas.

For some resorts, this also means catching a special view of the fireworks. Resorts like the Disney's Boardwalk Inn and Disney's Contemporary Resort have great views of the fireworks shows, which makes for a great (and free) activity for your day off.

2. Free Transportation and Free Parking

Another significant advantage of staying on Disney property is the free transportation that is provided by Disney. All Disney resorts offer free shuttle buses that can take you to and from the parks, as well as to other attractions within the Disney complex. One of the most unique benefits of staying on Disney property is the access to Extra Magic Hours. These are designated hours during which certain parks are open only to Disney resort guests. This means you can enjoy the parks with smaller crowds and shorter wait times AND get the most out of your park days. Extra Magic Hours can make a huge difference in the amount of activities you are do in a day, especially during peak travel seasons.
