Weโve only gone and done it - we are County Winners! We are absolutely over the moon to announce that we have been crowned Isle of Wight Pub & Bar of the Year 2024! Thatโs right folks, we have won best in the county and are now up for best in the region in this yearโs National Pub & Bar Awards.
What an incredible honour this is, weโre absolutely chuffed, to say the least. We are so incredibly grateful to our epic team who help make us what we are! Quite simply, without you this achievement wouldnโt have been possible. Your continued hard work, energy, drive and dedication have truly put us on the map and made us a true destination. We are now approaching our 4th Summer Season since taking over back in July 2020 and we have all worked tirelessly at improving and upgrading the service, quality and premises. Just goes to show hard work does pay off. This really is quite an achievement for our once little, sleepy, seasonal, seaside pub! Exciting things to come for The Old Fort & SE-VIEW Group.

We've already reclad the store room and weatherproofed it. Now we've replaced the facias, and this week we're closed so Marriott-Hallam Painting, Decorating & Plumbing Services can sand down, weathershield and repaint the exterior.
We cannot wait to see the end result and welcome our guests back to a shiny new Airbnb.

Red squirrels are not only beloved but also protected on the Isle of Wight. They can sometimes be spotted in and around the grounds of The Cabin if you are quiet. We are learning their habits as they negotiate our numerous squirrel boxes (supplied by ( ). Hazelnuts are a firm favourite.

June was a busy month for us.
Just getting The Cabin ready for our weekend guests. July is looking even busier. Summer is truly here!!
We took the weekend off to enjoy the Isle of Wight Festival. What a great weekend.
Now we are home and it's back to ensuring The Cabin is ready for this week's guests.
Before we embarked on becoming Airbnb Hosts we were, and still often are guests ourselves . We've sometimes had to "make do" with what the hosts provide and have been innovative when needed.
In The Cabin in Seaview we pride ourselves on providing a fully equipped kitchen so you don't have to make omellet mix in an antique china jug you find at the back of a cupboard, wash the pots in the shower or eat popcorn out of a dog bowl (See pic). You can if you want to though, as there are two available for our furrier guests. ๐ถ๐๐ฆฎ๐โ๐ฆบ๐ฉ. This morning we said goodbye to our first doggie guests ๐ถ๐พ๐ I'll admit we were nervous and wondered how the weekend would pan out, and what the clean-up would be like, but they were an absolute joy ... and their owners were very nice too. They left The Cabin SPOTLESS!!
So here we are waiting for the washing machine to finish, with our feet up drinking coffee ... wondering if the new Vax Pet Hoover Attachment will ever get a proper outing?
