Flying over and around 3000+ metre peaks in Japan's Southern Alps by helicopter was mind blowing. Given it's a 4 hour drive from Shizuoka city just to access the valley trailhead, flying in to hike incredible alpine trails is the ultimate experience.No crowds and drenched in Autumn colours. Very memorable day 😁

One of the best fish sandwiches hands down. Guri is a little cafe and bnb in Ina, a fishing village on the coast of Kyoto. Kyoto by the sea is often overlooked, yet offers some great back roads for a cycling adventure, or self-drive trip.

Pedal power under the gaze of Mt Fuji. We always encourage human-powered travel at KODO and these kayaks are great for freeing the hands for fishing. Surprisingly they can move pretty quick and super stable for when you hook that feisty one!

This is the approach into Hongu Taisha on the Kumano Kodo. From a distance, Japan's tallest Torii (33.9m) gate is dwarfed by the surrounding mountains, yet it dwarfs us as we approach it. Kind of puts everything into perspective when making this journey. The ubiqutious Torii ⛩️ demarks stepping into the realm of 'kami' or spirits.

I've been lucky to call Nozawa Onsen my home for the past year or so. It's been a comforting haven during these tough times that we all face in the travel industry.
