The "Walking with Janet" instagram now goes by the name . I hope to resume the larger posts of entire neighborhoods soon - they were postponed due to my broken right wrist but I am healing more quickly now.

I tend to take photos - a lot of them - wherever I go in LA. Here is a gallery of Los Angeles photos covering a lot more than houses - but I'm always WALKING when shooting them ;)!

I am "hiding" in several of these...

To me, Los Angeles is all about architecture, beautiful natural spaces, and quirky people. Here are a few photos to illustrate what our city means to me.

Rowena-adjacent Los Feliz walk from earlier this summer. Gorgeous homes around there, but it's a bit hilly for me. I'm lazy and prefer flat, but can take a hill here and there...

This West Adams walk was such a revelation! There are so many fascinating structures in this area with so many interesting stories attached to them! My friend, Kathleen, was able to find us a walking map online and kindly navigated us along

This July 24, 2020 walk with my friend Stacy took us into the "Mansion-land" of San Marino - just adjacent to The Huntington Gardens and Library. There are a lot of newer homes with a stately feel in this area - large estates and much that is gated. Still, we were able to see plenty and it's a lovely place to explore... Sadly, some of the more intesesting and genuinely older homes are along California but there's too much traffic there so it's not fun to walk down those blocks.

I need to explore Silver Lake more, considering that it's where I live! This was what I saw on a quick visit to the Farmer's Market on Sunset. Love this little block of houses on Maltman North of Sunset - so much creativity! Please note that some of these were taken from the car as I drove away.

This Toluca Lake walk was filled with newer homes going for an old-style charm and many of them succeeded! Just East of Cahuenga and South of Riverside, you'll find plenty of room to walk and admire, though only about half of those out and about were masked.

I'd been wanting to experience Sierra Madre Canyon by day for many years, and finally made it there earlier this week! The place is quite reminiscent of Topanga, a place I love. Most of the houses have some sort of artistic offering for those passing by, which is one thing I love about places I visit. The atmosphere was also so friendly and easy - it was quiet and seemingly stress-free! The central market and cafe, Mary's, will soon reopen, but only daily until 2 pm (which is a bit early for me...). Many commented on the smog/bad air quality there, the lack of diversity and the fact that it was a former l***r colony, but none of these things deterred me. There was plenty of support for BLM shown and I felt only positive vibes from my several-hour experience there (which was, thankfully, on a relatively clear day). I hope to return sometime soon...

This post is of my latest walk, yesterday, 8/14/20, in Eagle Rock, CA. I love this neighborhood, with its wide streets, kind and friendly people (most masked) and interesting houses of all different styles. My preferred street is Hill, which traverses the Northern tip of the town and stretches far from East to West. Driving back home to the West last night as the sun went down was a breathtaking experience.

Here's my walk from August 7 in one of the San Marino-adjacent areas of South Pasadena, with Stacy Lande. Notice the wreaths on the doors... This neighborhood is extremely manicured and pristine has an extremely regal air to it. Such a fun walk...
