#20 - Experience majestic eagles during the winter birding season in Northwest Washington. From December to March, many bald eagles gather near the Nooksack and Skagit Rivers, feeding on salmon carcasses that wash up on the sandbars created by the channels of the river. The Skagit River Interpretive Center offers guided nature walks on weekends through mid February to view wildlife. The walks last from 1.5 to 2 hours and travel along a flat, well-maintained trail that leads into the rainforest, crosses a bridge over a wetland and ends along the Skagit River.
