Floyd C4: Creators, Coaches, Curriculum and Challenge Series. The FREE series is set to start in September 9, 2024 and will continue once a week until the end of October. Sessions will be in person and will begin at 6 p.m (generally on Mondays). The business sessions include Business Idea and Business Planning, Ins and Outs of Operating a Business, Marketing: Why and How, Marketing (SEO & Social Media), Financing and Help Available, Local Business owner stories, and How to Pitch your Business. Take part in these sessions for a chance to pitch your business to win up to $5,000.

We're excited to announce that the 17th annual Floyd County Tractor Fun Run will be August 17th It is such a spectacular site seeing all the beautiful tractors old and new, in all sorts of shapes and sizes come together, as well as their drivers who were all beaming with happiness and pride. There’s something pretty special about the rural community when it comes together, especially for such a great charity fundraiser as this. This year the aim is to raise money for Graysen Bean and Avery Link. I am sure these 2 names sound very familiar. Last year we sponsored Graysen and the 2 years before that, little Miss Avery. Both of these precious little ones have extremely rare diseases. Even though they are both doing well. Their families are dealing with countless medical expenses not to mention the cost of getting these little jewels to their many doctor visits and treatments. Both of Graysen and Avery, they are faced with lifelong Doctor visits, treatments, medication, and even surgeries. This is why we the Coordinators for the Floyd County Tractor Fund Run felt we should try to help these young families again.

I had heard that a coffee shop was opening called The Grind a couple of years ago, but I finally got the chance to go check it out. Oh.My.Yum... the brown sugar cinnamon milkshake was SO YUMMY! Such a hard choice between it and a Frappe, but perfect to cool down in the heat!

I took a trip to Wytheville earlier this week and walked along downtown. I LOVE the speakers piping music all throughout your stroll. These cool tiles were along the sidewalk as well. I'm thinking FLOYD needs this! 😉 I will post some pics of businesses visited tomorrow!

So I have a new adventure to share... Small Town Floyd Girl is a project of StudioThought. While I still do websites, I wasn't getting enough work to pay all the bills and so I was looking for ways in which I could still help small businesses, and still generate that bill-paying income. I found such a way, by accepting a position with WFXR-TV as an account executive!

I can offer website design via StudioThought, but I can offer the FULL gamut of digital advertising AND television commercials via WFXR-TV. I've learned that television commercials are not nearly as expensive as I once thought and it is an inexpensive way to gain awareness.

So I'm hoping you won't mind as I venture beyond Floyd throughout southwest Virginia and let you know about small businesses all over the area to visit.
