So unfortunally this will be the last adventure post for Big Australian Adventure as we have officially completed our lap of Oz, Only slightly but definitely prematurely as Travis decided to have some mechanical issues in Hay, the first blip in an unblemished recorded for our whole lap and only about 300km away from home. After a quick visit to the local mechanic the issues didn't seem too major and we pushed on towards the boarder Towns of Echuca/Moama. Another splutter just outside Deniliquin and I booked Travis in to a mechanic in echuca. A bit of a head scratcher as to the exact issue so I decided that we would end our lap and head straight back to home base and get Travis attended too. Thanks to everyone who have jumped on board to share in on our adventures it's been an epic journey!!!

The last few weeks of our adventure picks up in Condobolin and a amazing donation camp at gum bend Lake we headed along the Lachlan River stopping at all the interesting sculptures all the way along to Forbes. We then went on a bit of a silo trail heading to the historic town of Grenfell, Weethalle, Hay and Deniliquin. A stop in Echuca before making the journey home to the south Easter suburbs of Melbourne and back to the real work!!

Managed to get a bit behind on the photo updates. We pick up where the next leg of travel took us through Bourke and on to Cobar, Nyngan, Dubbo, Parkes and Condobolin. The sun has lost its heat and the nights dropping below freezing!

A few days in lighting Ridge to explore this quirky town and then it was off to have a look at the opal fields and tour the pubs in the scrub before heading to Walgett( sadly the last of the hotsprings) and on to the small Town of Brewarrina.

Making our way back into NSW. Stopped over in Surat a lovely little town with a lot of history. Next was the boarder town of Hebel and its quirky little pub! A side detour to Goodooga on a fellow travellers recommendation saw me enter NSW without realising it and then onto Lightning Ridge. The weather has been wet and cold with glimpses of sunshine. I have had lady luck on my side and have been missing the worst of it, may it continue !!!!

Been a very quiet couple weeks with not too much going on. The colder weather has insured the winter cold and flu season didn't miss me and I bunkered down in some great little camp spots to try and recharge stopping in Augathella, Charleville, Morven, Mitchell and Roma.

The next leg of the journey saw us enjoying the stock man's hall of fame, the tree of knowledge, soaking in some amazing natural hotsprings, camping out the back of the quirky Wellshot Hotel, photo op with Black stump and attending the legendary chicken races at the Snitzel Stadium.!!! Longreach, Barcaldine, Lara wetlands, Ilfracombe, Blackall and Tambo.

Thoroughly enjoyed Winton and the age of the Dinosaurs tour was amazing! Did a bit more exploring around town then decided to head out to Opalton to try my luck at opal fossicking hoping to find my retirement stone 🤣 !

Heading east again towards a bit more civilisation and the town of Winton.The scenery is still amazing and we slowed a little to take it all in ... enjoying sunsets and sunrises in the remoteness all alone and then stopping at the historical Middleton pub to soak up a bit of history.

Our outback Queensland adventure continued from Mt Isa to Boulia in search of the Minn Minn lights !

Outback Queensland continued... this leg saw me travel from Cloncurry to Mt Isa with stops at Corrella dam and Old Mary Kathleen mine. The drive is just spectacular !

Form Cobbold gorge our journey continued west on to Normanton and then up to Karumba to enjoy the views over the gulf of Carpentaria.

Continuing west along the savanah way with a small looped detour to Einasleigh and Copperfield gorge and then onnto Forsyth and Cobbold gorge... I'd never heard of either of these places up until a couple of weeks ago and what little gems they are !!!!

And once all sold they must last 4 laps of the stadium ... The rules are simple..... the car does 4 laps the chickens can do as many or as few as they want but the 1st chook past the post after the car in the correct direction of travel is the winner! The money raised from the auction is halved with half going to the winning chickens owner and the other to a small charity called little windmills. On the night I attended each got $480

You get a brief bio and form guide for each chicken and then the chickens are auctioned off to the highest bidder who then owns the chicken for the duration of the race

And the chickens finally made their way into the stadium

But once it warmed up she was keen of a bit of a hike ...

Just so peaceful

At 4.30pm they have a communal fire, damper and live music so I timed my visit to the hotpool perfectly as I was the only one there

The trunk of the tree is the original and this huge wooden frame and floating pieces resemble its foliage

Some more sparkles found. .. but I am slowly coming to the realisation this is definitely harder than it looks !!!

Not much luck finding the mother load but I definitely collected some colourful stuff ... no idea what I'll do with it though 🤔

So for 3 days I fossicking away with colourful rocks catching my attention

Little miss Chilli not overy bothered with her stay in the kennels ...

Well she spent the next hour and a half thoroughly occupied like this till I dragged her away empty handed ...hahaha. Tomorrow we head out to explore the other ( BIG) thing Winton is famous for...
