The mission of the Daufuskie Alliance for Responsible Rentals (DARR) is to support short-term vacation rentals as a necessary and important part of Daufuskie Island’s tourism, while fostering community collaborations, regulatory fairness, and the preservation of property rights.
Members of DARR include Daufuskie’s vacation home owners, small businesses, service providers, realtors and property managers.
DARR aims to achieve our mission by:
• Working with Beaufort County and the Daufuskie Island Council in developing and implementing common-sense regulations governing short term vacation rentals in the island’s Historic District.
• Encouraging and promoting best practices for short-term rental operators.
• Preserving a major source of income and jobs for many Daufuskie residents.
DARR is dedicated to engaging in respectful discussions and exploring common ground in the development of policies and regulations relating to short term vacation rental issues on Daufuskie. We will serve as advocates for responsible policies and will work to bring important information to the community and to public officials during the course of these discussions.
