Canine Companions 💛💙

Canine Companions is a nonprofit organization that provides highly trained service dogs to adults, children, and veterans with disabilities.

Most of you know that my beautiful girl, Jojo VI was raised and trained by Canine Companions, and I wouldn't be where I am today without her unconditional love and support.

But what I haven't shared is how much the organization has changed my life as a whole. The community, friendships, and connections I have made through Canine Companions have been so beautiful, and that's where my friend Devon comes in.

Devon is a beautiful light in an often dark world. Her kindness, friendship, and support definitely shine bright. I got a text from her on January 13th that she received her invite to team training, and on February 7th, I got to watch her and her fur-ever companion, Brielle, graduate.

I was full of so many emotions because Devon is one of the sweetest people I have ever met, and it was finally her turn to receive a service dog who is already changing her life for the better.

I can't wait to watch all that they overcome as a team, and I'm so glad that Jojo will have her new bestie, Brielle, nearby.

To be completely honest, I'm exhausted.

I'm physically, mentally, and emotionally drained. I'm exhausted from trying to live a life that my body is just not capable of living. I'm tired of feeling so absolutely terrible, and I'm tired of being a medical mystery. I'm tired of feeling like I'm in the corner of a room screaming, yet still no one can hear me. I'm tired of relying on people to take care of me. I'm tired of feeling so alone when my PTSD hits me. Im tired of worrying about how close I am to my next hospital admission. These battles never seem to end, and I'm just so tired. This isn't where I expected to be in life, and if I could change everything in a snap, then I probably would.

This is just your reminder that no matter what you see on social media, you have no idea what is going on behind closed doors.

This life hurts, and it's so hard. That's all.

What rides can service dogs ride on at Disneyland? ✨️

This is a commonly asked question, so I definitely wanted to touch on the topic. There are so many rides at Disney Parks that service dogs are allowed to ride on, but it is always important to consider your dogs' needs before taking them on a ride that is deemed safe for them. Although many rides are safe for them, there are still other options in case taking your dog on the ride isn't the best for them. If rides aren't a good idea for your dog, you can consider the "Rider-Swap" option or also the use of Disney provided kennels, which are available at many attractions.

The following rides allow service dogs:

One of my favorite things to do when traveling to new places is to find local art walls to support local artists... 🎨

I love how street art offers a glimpse into the local culture, reflecting the community's values, history, and personality. Seeing the different ways artists transform public spaces into stunning works of art motivates me to explore new ideas and perspectives.

Did you know that Disney offers mobility devices to rent?♿️

I'm sure you knew that you could bring your own mobility devices to Disney, but you can also rent one from Disney if that is a better option for you.

Rental Price Per Day for Disneyland:

$15.00 for manual wheelchair rentals
$60.00 for ECV rentals—sales tax applies to ECV rental fee

Rental Price Per Day for Disney World:
$12.00 for manual wheelchair rentals
$65.00 for ECV rentals

The maximum weight for an ECV is 450 pounds. The maximum weight for a manual wheelchair is 350 pounds. ECVs and wheelchairs are not designed to hold more than one person.

Please take note that deposits vary depending on location.

January 2025

It's been an interesting yet slow January. I have a lot of feelings about this month, but only a few things to say.

I had a different kind of brain test done at the beginning of the month that made me feel validated in a way I haven't felt since 2021. I don't have answers right now, and it's looking like the following months are going to be full of more MRIs and EEGs, but I have my family and Jojo to help me through those hard times.

This year is going to be full of a lot of different changes and growth, and I know this is only the beginning. I'm really trying to focus on prioritizing both my mental and physical health this year by doing what's best for me and saying no to things that cause me too much stress. I have a lot of exciting things coming up, and I can't wait to share those with all of you.

Remember that you only have one life to live, so do what makes you happy and spend time with the people you love the most.
