OMM BEACH, GOKARANA, KARNATAKA
Om Beach of Gokarna carries a spiritual significance concerning its geographical appearance. The shape of this beach resembles the symbol ‘Om’ and hence, it is considered to be highly auspicious amongst the locals. You can witness the joining of two semi-crescent pieces of land here and this is why and how the beach derived its present identity.

Known for its early morning and late evening sightseeing delights, Om Beach is a photographer’s paradise. It is simply amazing to observe the transitory phases of the skyline from the shores of Om Beach. Do not miss on your cameras as there are surely going to be plentiful moments for you to capture here. The sand of this beach is fine and delicate, and the rock creations are simply astounding!

You may witness the presence of fishermen boats throughout the shores. Some of them might be busy with their deep-sea fishing activity. If you are communicative, you may approach the local fishing community to get some insights into their daily lives.

Banana boat rides, bumper boat rides, dolphin spotting, jet skiing, fishing, trekking, and speed boating are some adventurous activities to try here.

Ancient burial site found in Uttar Pradesh’s Sinauli is 3,800-years old, indigenous warrior tribe inhabited the region

The carbon dating tests have confirmed that the largest known ancient burial site found in Uttar Pradesh’s Sinauli, where 126 burials were excavated, are at least 3,800 years old, reports Times of India. According to the reports, the ASI had conducted excavations in Sinauli, 68 km from Delhi in UP’s Baghpat district, which had paved for the discovery of horse-drawn chariots, burials, four-legged wooden coffins, pottery, a copper antenna sword, war shields.

On further examination, the ASI has revealed that the elaborate burials, which included underground chambers, decorated legged coffins and rice in pots buried with the bodies, belong to an indigenous warrior tribe which inhabited the region.
ASI joint director S K Manjul, who led the excavations at Sanauli, said that the carbon dating has now confirmed that the burials date back to 1900 BC.

The site at Sinauli is famous for its Bronze Age “chariots”, the first ones to be recovered in an archaeological excavation in South Asia. The excavations in Sinauli were conducted by Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) in 2005-06 and in mid-2018, which is still continuing. Further, the anthropomorphic figures on coffin indicate some kind of religious beliefs. Some anthropomorphic figure made of Gold, copper associated with Vedic gods has also been found, which traces back to the roots of early historic cultures. Materials found here contemporary to the late-mature phase of Harappans.

🏞️🏞️🏞️ Khecheopalri Lake, Sikkim

Khecheopalri Lake is situated at an altitude of 5,600ft and is estimated to be 3,500 years old. The name Khecheopalri literally translates to 'heavenly abode of Padmasambhava', the 8th century Buddhist master commonly believed to be the second Buddha.

Sikkim is home to many mystical places, including Khecheopalri Lake. Local Buddhists and Hindus alike consider Khecheopalri Lake to be sacred. The lake water is said to have curative properties and can only be used for rites and rituals; no bathing, fishing or other recreational activities are allowed.

The surface of the lake is remarkably clean. It is said that, as soon as a leaf falls on the lake from one of the surrounding trees, the birds instantly swoop down to clear it away. A boardwalk lined with prayer wheels leads out to the lake, and prayer flags flutter all around it.

😳😳😳 One of the most well-documented mysteries of India comes from a glacial lake in Uttarakhand known as Roopkund.

Located at over 5,000 meters above sea level in the Himalayan mountains, the lake is home to the skeletal remains of up to 800 people who, according to DNA reports, belonged to the 9th century.
In 2013, a group of scientists suggested that all sets of skeletons belonged to people of South Asian ancestry and that the deaths took place in a single incident. They also noticed that there were no signs of violence or damage done to the bones by any sort of weapons or natural phenomena such as an avalanche or a landslide.
What they did discover were signs of a fatal blow to the back of their heads, almost as if they were smacked by a cricket ball with a lot of force. The scientists therefore came to a conclusion that all these people were caught in the middle of an exceptionally devastating hail storm with hail stones the size of a leather cricket ball.

However, a 2019 study done by Nature Communications ended up raising more questions about the ‘hail storm’ theory than supporting it. They conducted a full genomic analysis from 38 sets of skeletal remains and discovered that only 23 people belonged to people of South Asian ancestry and 14 people came from a the Mediterranean ancestry, Greece and Crete to be exact.

🌄🌄😀 KINNAUR, HIMACHAL PRADESH: OFFBEAT DESTINATION IN INDIA
Kinnaur is primarily known for its apple orchards, dangerous roads, deep gorges, and beautifully carved, intricate wooden temples. Very different from other touristy districts, Kinnaur has a distinct culture: It is a mix of Buddhism and Hinduism.

Some villages worship trees and even protect trees and cordoning of Van vihars. Some worship ‘local goddess’ idols, which are brought out only during public fairs and processions. The temples are built in wood and are exemplary examples of craftsmanship. Especially the famed Badrinarayan temple of Batseri and the Chandrika Kothi temple in Kalpa.

Even Kinnauri marriages are different. The brides are dressed in a unique manner – almost head to toe in silver. But the real magic of Kinnaur is its natural beauty. Hike up to the source of the Baspa river off Batseri or dip your feet in its chilling waters in the last village on the Indo-Tibet highway, Chitkul.

😬😳🤐🥺 House of Dolls or Putulbari: Haunted House in Kolkata

House of Dolls, or Putul Bari, is a century old haunted house in North Calcutta, which is almost in ruins. In a region where every inch is precious and a place to stay is highly in demand, the vast upper floors of this huge mansion like residence is empty. The most horrid screams can be heard from the house after dark and no one has had the guts to go upstairs after sunset. The interesting thing is that the lower floor of the houses is still inhabited by tenants who have been residing here for centuries and they have simply gotten used to the screams, although even they do not climb up the stairs. As to the shrieks that can be heard, it is said that a zamindar used this house as his haunt where he brought women from wherever he wanted for his pleasure. The house is so named because of the figures of dolls etched into the arches of the building. Any outsider who has gone into the house once has not ventured a second time.
