Did you hear the big news... ended the Jollof war once and for all. No, you didn't hear? Perhaps you heard of Jollof rice then? Also no! Hmmm. 🤔

Well I suppose it doesn't surprise me.

Finding say, Chinese, Indian or maybe Thai restaurants abroad isn't so hard but finding African restaurants on the other hand.

Why is that? When Africa is the second, most largest diverse continent filled with abundant spices and fresh produce.

Back to my point however, Ghana and Nigeria can finally rest because UNESCO named Senegal as the origin of Jollof rice. 👏🏽

my conclusion: African food in general hits the spot!

Africa is a growing buzz word when it's BEEN time for the world to recognize and celebrate this diverse and rich continent! It's unique cultures, histories and achievements!! 🙌🏽

More than just a buzz word, I believe we can gain a greater sense of respect towards Africa and Africans by learning about the traditions, values and ways of life.

When we begin to build stronger, more meaningful relationships with one another, we can create a more harmonious and inclusive world.

To help foster these authentic relationships and cultural exchange, together with other talented Africans, I will be sharing a few virtual experiences soon that will be worth keeping an eye out and would not need a flight to Africa, simply from the comfort of your home.

I take practicing German for granted.

I'm always so humbled by the language skills of Kenyans working in the .

My colleague Rajab can speak fluent German without attending a single class or having traveled to any German-speaking country. Merely from second-hand dictionaries and books left behind by tourists. Completely self-taught and yet, he is able to hold a German conversation better than me.

Speaking multiple langauges is common for many Kenyans in the tourism industry paving the way for cultural exchange. The motivation thrives off economic opportunities and tourism being one of the most relevant industries in Kenya.

In 2021, the seventh highest origin of international arrivals came from Germany. Better yet, in 2021 Eurowings Discover launched flights directly from to the coast . From experience, I can tell you it was a very gemütlich flight.

Imagine saying "I shared a plate with 15 hungry lions". Not an impossible task for these Maasai.

I rewatch this video to remind myself that and goes a very long way.

The tribe are an inspiration for their resilience and strength and are known for their traditional way of life as nomadic herders in the vast grasslands of . Until today, they have managed to preserve most of their traditions.

I haven't done that much traveling but I have done a lot of moving (8 countries, 13 cities and counting) and what this has taught me is that it is really fulfilling to get to know and understand a place... and there is this warm sense of comfort when you return back to a place too.

I am what you would call a quality traveller (just without the high-budget 😌), I like to be included in the community, see a place through a locals-perspective.

I do notice others prefer quantity and I get it, in Kenya you have wildlife, beaches, water sports, city-life, I can imagine why travellers want to do it ALL.

So this question has been on my mind for a long time and I'm curious:

Do you prefer:

A) to get to know a specific city really well if that means passing up certain activities?

OR

B) visit as many attractions, sites, activities as you can?

Media has created a mess among different countries and truthfully the only way to discover a country is to go there yourself.

Besides, be honest, did you know this about ?
🚺 There's an all-female matriarch village in Samburu
📱 96% of Kenyan households use mobile money called Mpesa
🚦There's an island so preserved that there are no traffic lights or cars
🎬 Featured in big block buster movies like Tomb Raider
🦏 Home to the last white Rhinos on Earth

The Kenya Tourism Board ( MagicalKenya ) describes the country as magical, I think you'd still have to go see if that's really true. Chances are, it is actually better! 😌

Great to see so many leopard sightings on the conservancy and as the short rains trigger the birthing season for many antelope species, we can expect more and more predators to move into the area.

The best time to visit is....

all-year round!!

Some experts say from January to March others may say from June to October. Personally, I say it's worthwhile any 👏🏽 time 👏🏽 of 👏🏽 the 👏🏽 year.

Why? Very simple, there's always something for every season!

You have , I have Khanga's!

Now Khanga's are special kind of fabric found along the Swahili coastline, each and every Khanga has a wise written on the fabric.

Let's take this proverb for example:
'Umejuka Na Lako Usichunguze La Mwenzako' which translates to 'You have your share, do not criticise' in other words 'Take ownership'. How often do we stop to think that maybe, just maybe, the problem lies with me?

Going into 2023 and thinking of solutions for travel (and more), this proverb will most definitely come to mind.
