The first time I visited Venice was a few years ago. It was a university trip that focused on learning as much about Venetian art as possible. Of course, everything happened in a time-lapse.

I had heard a lot about the city. For some, it was beautiful, for others, it stinks and is not worth visiting. I decided to not have any expectations and see what would happen. That time, when Venice was covered with a cold February fog and the gusts of wind threw an icy rain in my face, I fell in love with this city....

The article that I share with you today is very personal and in some sense, it took me years to writer it. I am happy to get this opportunity from publication The Happy Human to share this article on the medium.
I wrote it mostly for myself but also for all the people out there who lost a loved one to su***de.

And I want to tell you this: you have the right to grieve.

Love is a bit like an old European town. Full of tangled streets. Some of them are charming, filled with cafés, lovley meetings, memories scented like flower.  Others are unpleasant, stink with p**s, and there is some hardship in the heart while passing them. And then there are other, dull ones, with nothing to be upset about but also with not a single thing to be impressed about.

It's the chaos of stories, emotions, feelings, moments, and people that pass you by quickly and those who stop for a moment to chat with you. From the ground level it all seems complicated, tangled, but sometimes also familiar to such extent that you think you know the whole town, that you memorized all its corners.

But if you look at it from a different perspective, above the surface, the chaos of the streets, of the town, of life, seems to be much more in order. Ochre roofs seems to fluidly fit each other. Streets create perfect connection that totally makes sense. Campanilas and towers that grow from the urban landscape remind of all big life events which we usually do not expect, yet forward which we always looking for, especially passing dull and sad streets.

And then, while seeing the town from above, we can notice that there is always something more than just little streets which we pass... Something bigger. A mountain, a see, a forest, or simply an endless horizon. And then the town looks small, little, but not meaningless. It's a tiny part of a bigger whole, and within that whole it's no longer chaos. It's a part of an infinite peace.

When the pen touches the sheet of paper, a whole new Universe is created. An imaginary one, or one filtered through our experiences and emotions. 🙏

During the time I spent in Poland, I discovered a box of old letters that I received in the past. It brought back memories and a longing for "good old" analogue times. I recalled my pen pal who I met in the village I used to live in. This is how my newest article was born. 👌

You can read it on Leisure and Martini website. 💕https://www.leisuremartini.com/why-is-it-worth-it-to-write-letters/

Have you ever had a pen pal? Do you still send letters? Would you like to receive one? Let me know!🤔🖍️

I often prefer handwriting, because when you see a sunset like this one, there has to be a time to process its beauty.🤯

Happy Menstrual Hygiene Day everyone!

Each day about 60% of adolescents don’t go to school because they don’t have enough money to buy tampons or hygienic pads. How you can help? Check out my article on .

Porto has a special place in my heart. It is a very beautiful city with a unique vibe. With charming cobbled streets, and the stunning Ribeira where boats swing on the soft waves of Douro River. With ancient and modern stories that float in the air no matter where you go. With the smell of heated granite and the liberating gusts of fresh air in Cordoaria or Palácio de Cristal. With delicious coffee, refreshing orange juice, and cheap wine that turn late summer evenings into miraculous events.

I was supposed to be back in Portugal about two weeks ago. Unfortunately, because of a positive COVID test, I had to stay in Poland longer, postponing seeing my place on Earth for a bit longer.

It is even a bigger pity considering that Portugal is starting to open for tourists. If you are planning to visit Porto in the near future, check out my guest post for the Etramping blog. You can find the best accommodation there for the budget traveler, mid-range budget tourists, exclusive options, and some tips for digital nomads and the best places to stay, such as Communa Garage.

Would you rather travel to Porto on a budget or pick an exclusive option? What is the thing you would love to do while being there?

P.S. Stay tuned because soon you will get the next article about Porto.

Toruń is one of my favorites cities in Poland. It is located close to the place where I live, so I was going there often with school or with my family. Every time, it's breathtaking for me. It has a rich culture, interesting legends, the best gingerbread, and of course, stunning . 🍪💁

The city is a center of gothic buildings, mostly founded by Teutonic Knights. Whether it's a church, a beautiful town hall, or stunning property, Toruń has a lot to offer. 💓🌿

I know that many places are closed down again because of COVID, so I want to take you for a virtual tour around the city. Read about the best places to visit during a day trip to Toruń on my blog. 😊

The brand new post about my first camping and the beautiful Alentejo!

Just immerse in nature and simply enjoy it!

The previous weeks have been full of changes, and I have been dreaming about some days of retreat in a secluded place. When we finally moved to the Algarve, we went camping. It may seem a bit weird, but it was the first time in my life when I slept in a tent. I must admit that I loved it, and the pl...

Today post on which I was working quite a bit as it was very hard to catch the unique spirit of this place in words. I hope somehow I managed to do it! Let me know if you enjoyed today's article: leave comment, like or share it 😘

It was the first day when we came to the Algarve. As a nature lover, I was amazed by the beauty of everything that surrounded us: curved branches of old oaks, the smell of the thyme bushes in which bees were creating flawlessly composed music, and steep mountains that we decided to discover. So here...

When you buy clothes, do you pay attention to where they are from?🧐👕👖👗

Did you know that the fashion industry is highly pollutant? 😱🤢🥵

Imagine that you travel to India and instead of admiring clean beaches you have to go through an ocean of clothes - clothes, that we all put there.🦑🌴 Check my post to learn more!

This post is not directly connected with slow travelling, but as a person who has a lot of consideration towards the environment, I decided to write today about the fashion industry and how I started paying attention to what I wear, ecologically wise. About Slow Motion Travels

My name is Anna and I am Polish, living in Portugal. I first travelled abroad when I was nineteen. My next travels led me to 16 more countries and allowed me to discover many places and people. Some of them became my best friends.

During that time, I was also becoming more and more concerned about the environment and our influence on it. I started to be more conscious about the responsibility that I carry as a person who lives on this Earth, but especially, as a traveller. Because of that, I stopped focusing on visiting as many places as I could and started to travel slow.

What does that mean to me? Clearly, not being late for the train! It means to focus more on quality than on quantity. To visit 3 museums instead of 10 but fully enjoy their art collection. To breathe the smell of coffee and enjoy the moment of drinking it instead of rushing to the next sight. To meet the locals and let them show me their place or even to become local-like. To choose more sustainable forms of transport. To immerse myself into the culture and customs of the place. To focus on the places around me instead of always looking for the ‘other side’, for more, further, better.

Slow travelling made me live in 4 different countries and helped me find my home on Earth, which is Porto, Portugal, where I work as a tour guide. Slow Motion Travels focuses on experiencing culture, customs and art in a meditative, poetic way. This blog is a place where I will share my experiences from my small and big travels as well as tips on how to live and travel more sustainably.
