This particular meeting houses an agenda item (Resolution 24-16 - Capital Outlay Note- Placed on the agenda by the Financial Management Committee) that has sparked great concern with many individuals in the county; and I fully understand why.
They are proposing that we borrow and spend (“not to exceed”) $10.4 million dollars for (5) separate projects.
Proposed Capital Outlay Projects Projected Cost
a. Liberty School Wing $3,364,859
b. Juvenile Facility $6,049,550
c. Surplus Facility $600,000
d. Public Safety Training Range $154,000
e. NCRS Office Expansion at Ag Ctr $25,000
Again; please know that I am 100% in favor of the Liberty School wing. I have questions about the others though; to include the steps taken (or not taken) before this resolution even reached the Commission as an agenda item.
I also feel strongly that no matter what, these (5) items should NOT be bundled together (into one resolution); to be presented together for consideration as one single vote.
Thank you to those that have made your voices heard regarding this item/issue. If anyone else has questions or comments; feel free to leave them below and/or call me. I am always happy to talk.
Kind regards,
Eric
