Travel back in time!

Steam through beautiful countryside on The Kent & East Sussex Railway recognised as both the country’s finest and first example of a rural light railway. The main station is in the charming town of Tenterden where you can buy your tickets and learn about the history of the railway before stepping aboard a preserved steam or diesel train to travel a route that’s been used for more than a century.

The Kent & East Sussex Railway is situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and follows the wide unspoilt Rother Valley for much of the journey. Tenterden Town Station is the starting point for many visitors, but wherever you choose to board, you can be assured of a warm welcome!

This tranquil oasis right in the heart of the city must seen to be fully appreciated, with its pretty gardens, lush meadow and ancient chapel. The site boasts a fascinating history and work is ongoing to protect it for future generations.

The third annual Wine Garden of England Summer Celebration will be held by the lake at Chilham Castle. You'll be able to meet the producers and taste the wines from:

⭐ Balfour Winery
⭐ Biddenden Vineyards
⭐ Chapel Down
⭐ Gusbourne
⭐ Simpsons Wine Estate
⭐ Squerryes since 1731
⭐ Westwell Wines

Chilham Castle is a 17th Century private residence set amongst stunning grounds within walking distance from Chilham railway station. There is a small vineyard, planted by the team at Domaine Evremond and an opportunity to hear about their plans during a vineyard tour.

All-day ticket holders will be given a Wine Garden of England tasting glass and tote bag, together with a book of tasting vouchers. Each voucher gets you a tasting from one producer, so that you can make your way around all of them, sampling the diversity of the group. Further glasses and bottles can be purchased from the central bar, which is also surrounded by a selection of local food producers. If you buy an all-day ticket, this will allow you access to our after party from 6pm - 9pm where you can enjoy more wine from the bar, choose food from the many food producers, and listen to our live band.
