In today's edition of MEET OUR GUIDES, we introduce to you Kathy Koontz.

Kathy grew up in the area with a father who instilled a love of exploring the outdoors and hiking. After graduating from UNCCH and UNCG, she has worked over 40 years as an educator, counselor, and disability services coordinator for NC public school and for Brevard College.

In the past, she worked summers as a lifeguard, pool manager, and swimming instructor. After raising a wonderful son and daughter, she spends as much time as possible hiking regional trails and exploring waterfalls along with reading and learning more about the local history, geography, and diverse botany of our temperate rain forest.

Because of this, it's no surprise that Kathy is our GO-TO person when we have any questions about anything that we see on the trail - be it a rock, plant, mushroom, animal - she will give us the best skinny on it. Same goes with our guests - they often talk about how much they learned from Kathy during the few hours on the trip with us!

We are absolutely honored and priviledged to have Kathy on our team! We ❤️ you, Kathy!

The temperature, humidity, and cloud coverage change drastically on the Blue Ridge Parkway tour, due to the 4000ft elevation gain between the starting point in Asheville, and the turnaround spot at 6000ft, so please DRESS IN LAYERS!

Sunrise Coffee & Jeep Tour is truly a unique (and a must-do) experience in Asheville.

During this 2 hour outing we will:
•ride on the Blue Ridge Parkway in our Jeep
•brew coffee/tea on the spot
•watch the sun come up

Staff feature: hey all, meet Sutton, the most recent addition to our stellar guide team!!!

Sutton was born and raised in Asheville, North Carolina where he's spent 20 of the 26 years of his life. He grew up camping in Pisgah National Forest, right where we take our guests, so to him it's like working in his own backyard! After living in Maine, California, and Australia, the mountains brought him back last August, and he is seeing Western North Carolina in a whole new light.

He loves the mountains, the river beds, the trees, the wildlife, but most of all, he loves people!!! He says that getting to spend time with them, hear their stories and share the mutual appreciation for nature is the highlight of this job.

When he is not guiding Jeep tours, he is filming weddings, engagements, corporate events and more! Follow for your videography needs!!

There is no aesthetics in this post, but it's among our favorite ones lately.

Each of our guides brings something valuable to the table, and each of us has a different guiding style.

However, the one thing we all bring to the table is our authenticity and our love for these mountains that we are in.

In between meetings - a quick tour of the Blue Ridge Parkway!

Our Parkway tour starts in Asheville and goes all the way up to the Black Balsam area - to 6000ft above sea level. Amazing views & 10 tunnels are just a few of the features of this tour.

There are bathrooms along the route & there is little hiking involved (100% optional).

We are so excited to share our newest offering: Waterfall Hike & Jeep Excursion. Waterfall Hike & Jeep Excursion is a sweet combination of our hiking and Jeep tours. During this tour, you will have the opportunity to ride in one of our custom-built Jeeps, hike a total of 2-3 miles while seeing 4-5 areas most amazing waterfalls, and get familiar with the local wildflowers, trees, and animals.
