Between 1957 and 1976 there was a regular bus service between London and Calcutta, India.The 32,000km, 50 day, 2-way bus route was the longest in the world.

The bus had sleeping bunks and even a kitchen. For just £145 you got to travel with food and accommodation. The bus would stop at attractions and for shopping in Vienna, Istanbul and Iran.

The bus ride took passengers from England to Belgium, West Germany, Austria, Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Northern India.

Check out this cool, free travel website. It's great for itinerary storage and for planning. You can add your itinerary, it will suggest landmarks, things to do by city. I used it a lot on our Portugal tour, it was great when on a road trip. I think if you upgrade, it will link to mapping software.

TAP is a great way to get Europe. They are Portuguese and will let you easily and at no additional cost have like a two night layover in Lisbon. A good vacation vacation can start with cheap flight.

If I can travel for a week with a carry on, anyone can! I love these compression cubes. This one has 3 tank tops, 3 cami tops, 4 dresses, 3 socks, 2 bras, 2 button up shirts, and a swimsuit!!

Why? Because it was an extra $500 for both of us to check in luggage. Granted, I may shop and have a check in on the way home. 😛 ying yang.

I love a good deal, especially if it’s free! Are you using click-through sites to get more points? There’s lots of chatter online about how to get more points with credit cards and special offers. I’ve been using click through sites for years for extra points on Southwest, American and United Last fall I discovered Rakuten…. a weird name for a click through site. But stay with me…you can opt to get a cashback check.

But more lucratively, you can transfer the cash back to American Express points. I just noticed that I have earned 65,000 points since like September. That’s at least a free airline ticket! 

I get a referral fee if you sign up. But you get $30 to jumpstart your cashback. It really is a great way to get points.

I got 10,000 points because I had to buy a new dryer and another 11,000 for my new water heaterter from Lowes…. you don’t have to be a huge shopper. Just make it a habit when you shop online to look there first.
