Dare Valley Country Park is located just outside Aberdare. 200 acres of fresh air and beautiful scenery. There's so much to do... fishing, hiking, kids playgound, bike hire, or simply walking your furry friends.

We had a lovely walk with our 4-legged friend then popped into blackrockcafe21 for a fab breakfast. Dogs are welcome in the café which makes it extra special.

I highly recommend checking out the park and café if you're in the area.

Spent a lovely afternoon at Duffryn Gardens. The grounds staff have done a great job keeping the lawns and borders looking beautiful despite Covid. Highly recommend a coffee on the terrace, and don't miss the beautiful plants for sale in the shop.

Big Pit National Coal Museum is an industrial heritage museum in Blaenavon. It was a working coal mine from 1880 to 1980. This period of industrial revolution saw a vast number of similar pit heads across the South Wales Valleys.
Above ground attractions include a winding house, saw mill, pithead and baths. Visitors can also travel deep underground to the pit bottom to tour the mine workings. In 2000, the area was named a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

The Severn Bridge was the target of an April Fools prank in 2019 when it was reported to be installing a new 100mph zipline to link Wales and England. It was said to "allow thrill-seekers to soar from Chepstow to Gloucestershire over the River Severn at speeds of up to 100mph". 🤣😂🤣

Newquay is a beautiful seaside town on Cardigan Bay on the west coast of Wales.
The picturesque natural harbour provides mooring for fishing boats and is a great location to take a boat trip to see the bottlenose dolphins that live in Cardigan Bay.
The town has a heritage centre and marine wildlife centre, as well as the usual collection of shops and restaurants.

The Norwegian Church Arts Centre in Cardiff Bay was a place of worship for Scandinavian sailors and the Norwegian community in Cardiff for over a hundred years.
Did you know the writer Roald Dahl, who was born in Cardiff to Norwegian parents, was baptised in the church. The Church has a room named 'The Dahl Gallery', in memory of Roald Dahl.

The River Wye flows 250 km from the mountains of mid Wales right down to the Severn estuary.
Located in the east of Wales, much its length forms part of the border between England and Wales.
The Wye Valley is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The mighty medieval fortress of Caernarfon Castle with town walls and quay took a staggering 47 years to build and finally completed in 1330 under the reign of Edward I.
Many years of war and sieges took it's toll on the inner buildings but the town walls and castle are in good condition.
In 1969 the castle gained world acclaim when Prince Charles was invested as the Prince of Wales. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Three Cliffs Bay is on the Gower Peninsula, Swansea. The bay takes its name from the three sea cliffs that jut out into the bay. Pennard Pill, a large stream, flows into the sea in the middle of the bay.

The Bay is one of Gower's most picturesque beaches with a spectacular shoreline of sand dunes, salt marsh and limestone cliffs.

The National Botanic Garden of Wales covers 568 acres of Carmarthenshire countryside. The garden is both a visitor attraction and a centre for botanical research and conservation, and features the world's largest single-span glasshouse measuring 110m long by 60m wide.
You'll also find the British Bird of Prey Centre, a variety of themed gardens and a national nature reserve. The Garden makes for a great day out with a packed programme of events and courses throughout the year.

Claerwen Dam on the Elan Valley reservoir system. The 56m high dam was officially opened in 1956 and is one of six dams in the Elan Valley waterways. The tranquil Elan Estate is a haven for wildlife and has been awarded an International Dark Sky Park Award.

The Gorsedd Stones in Aberdare Park were laid in 1956 to commemorate the National Eisteddfod being held in the town. The impressive park covers 50 acres and is home to a boating lake, lake side café and Victorian sculptures. Well maintained planting and many tree species surround the perimeter of the park.

The Straining Tower on Lake Vyrnwy. The lake is surrounded by an area of unspoilt beauty ❤️ Spend some time exploring the reservoir and dam at the opposite end from the tower. There is an RSPB centre, shop, cafe and bike/boat hire.

Melincourt Falls or Sgwd Rhyd Yr Hesg is an 80ft/24m waterfall located near the village of Resolven, Neath. The short walk from the car park meanders along a rain forest type pathway following the Melincourt stream. Do not forget your camera!

The pretty seaside village of Barmouth sits on the Mawddach estuary on the west coast of Wales. Boasting a big sandy beach and clear views across Cardigan Bay, it's also a great place to view fantastic sunsets.

South Stack Lighthouse is located off Holy Island on the isle of Angelsey. This small island is accessible by a connecting footbridge and is home to large colonies of seabirds. The island juts out into the Irish Sea with magnificent views of the Llyn Peninsula. Holy Island reserve has a visitor centre, cafe and plenty of parking nearby.
