Beginners Guide For New and Existing Players Part 2 – Daily Writs and more Skill Lines
If you’ve followed the above part 1, you now have your Alliance War skill so lets get some more easy to get skill lines and start writs!
If you’ve followed the above, I recommended starting in Vvardenfell which is Morrowind and if so, on the map head over to Vivec City.
It's not necessary to speak or start any main line quests yet and you’ll encounter one as soon as you spawn in. Just race over to city and discover it.
Just after discovering it and just before you enter the city there will be a black arrow quest markers and one of them is “Seeking Tenant!” “Room to Spare”. I encourage doing this is all the cities but mainly for cities that getting there can be a battle. For example, Alinor in Summerset, you’ll have to cross the map to get there. Others can be more tedious! I'll have a separate post in regards to this.
Once you get the above continue on into the city (don’t worry you’ll complete the quest above soon since you have to go to same general area for writs quest to start), you’ll see another marker on a reader board which are your crafting writ locations. Start this and head to the White Door in your heads up display.
Don’t forget to stop by the Stable just before the Wayshrine to upgrade your mount daily. With the passive you got from Alliance War which gives you a 30% speed boost, I would recommend putting points into Stamina and Capacity early on.
Your character needs to get certified before you can start doing writs, Blacksmithing, Woodworking, Clothing, Alchemy, Provisioning, Enchanting and Jewelry if you have Summerset addition.
You’ll need to talk to Millenith, Danel Telleno and Felarian in Alinor if you have Summerset. I recommend starting with Danel Telleno in the Mages Guild.
Once you find him talk with him and select you want to be certified and he will certify you. He’ll give you a recipe which is in a box right next to the Mage you get the Mages skill line from so get the recipe and then talk to the Mage.
Mage will give you the Mage skill line! Too easy! Read the recipe and talk to Danel Telleno again.
Now before you race off to start your provisioning writ, stop and head towards the fighters guild which you can get to from the Mages guild. You’ll speak to the Fighters guild and get that skill line! Again Too easy!
Why the two skill lines? There are two important and time saving passives in these lines, Persuasive Will: Allows you to Persuade NPCs in conversation from the Mages and Intimidating Presence: Allows you to Intimidate NPCs in conversation, both time saving for sure!
Now head back to the city and start your first writ! There is a bit of back and forth here however you will see that Danel and Millenith are now standing by the bank so you don’t have to run a long ways to speak with them. (Note: reason I like starting here for new characters is this since other cities there is more running and can be a pain).
Supplies for your provisioning writ are right by the provisioning station for your first writ and can be completed easily, the rest of your writs you will need to go to a designated area to get items, all of which are in the same general area and easy to get to.
Go through all 6 there and now you’ve completed your certifications for doing daily writs! (If you have larger editions including Summerset you will need to go to Alinor to get Jewelry certification. Which you can Shimmerene Wayshrine and then on your 30% faster mount ride to Alinor!
Quick check… You should have 3 skill lines added to your menu, Alliance War, Mages Guild and Fighters Guild, started your ability to do daily writs and also stopping by stable daily to increase training…. If not scroll up and get them!
Another EASY skill line that will help you greatly and very easy to do and quickly is Legerdemain Skills, basically stealing and pickpocketing.
Getting the skill line is easy, just pickpocket an NPC, steal an item or pick a lock. It will pop up saying you got the skill line added.
Want to level this quickly? Here is an easy way to do this and get you some gold, recipes and more!
Head to Daggerfall, in Glenumbra. There are two large ships at the docks that are completely unguarded and you can steal everything! Once full head to the nearby Outlaws Refuge and sell your items or launder them if you want to keep them. Then repeat! (Note: any recipes or plans you steal just learn them, no need to launder them first unless you want to sell them).
You have a limit at first but the limit goes up quickly as you add skill points to this line. You can make a lot of gold here so head there daily. You can also advance your skills more by picking safeboxes and chests. (Note: Khenarthis Roost has a lot of chests on the beach to be picked!)
Undaunted skill line – You don’t have to wait to be invited at level 45! You can head to the following locations to start a small quest! They are located in Taverns in these cities:
• Davon’s watch in Stone Falls
• Daggerfall in Glenumbra
• Vulkhel Guard in Auridon
(Note: Once you reach level 45 and have taken the Undaunted pledge you can start to carry out daily quests and daily pledges. This doesn’t stop you from getting skill line or doing the dungeons).
There are two other guild and skill lines, Psijic Skill Line and Thieves Guild skill line. Unless you have purchased the editions that have them you don’t have immediate access to them from the base game via GamePass. Summerset will allow you to get the Psijic Skill line, you’ll start that by heading to Shimmerene and an NPC will say the island is sinking, you’ll get the skill line at end of this quest.
As you can see from Part 1 and Part 2 here, there is a lot of information! Many players may want to get right into the game but will eventually have to get the above.
Writs and stealing are easy to get gold to buy the things you want in game, in upcoming part 3 I will talk about making gold easy!
