There has been much coverage in national / local press and social media of the recent tragic paddleboard incident on River Conwy.

Since then local Lifeboats have been called several times to paddle boarders and kayakers.

We have posted advice on this group page plus we echo all the advice available on social media and other online platforms but getting instruction or at the very least, face to face safety advice, is essential to stay safe. Local Watersports shops can help - their links are below.

This week it was noticed that some users have a tendency to remove their buoyancy aids (worn like a waistcoat) They ensure you remain upright in the water. Don’t be tempted to remove it because the weather is hot.

Lastly, keep an eye on the wind. A flat sea and sunshine can mask a potential change in wind direction and before you know it, the water has become choppy, you are way out to sea and unable to paddle back to shore.
