We probably won't be venturing this Easter! Degree taking over my life (joyful dissertation) and having to save to survive the summer but here's an example of what I've been tempted with!
5 nights in Spain, 2 adults 2 children under £400 (if you factor in transfers from airport)
Hand luggage is more than enough for 5 days aways (it's all we take for 2 weeks!)

Sun holidays/eurocamp

Booking opens tonight for sun holidays for 2024.

We are more than likely doing Eurocamp this year as it was be 4 years since we did 😱 but I'm on shift tomorrow so not staying up late to book!

In 2019 we did 10 nights at Lake garda with flights end of August for £900

In 2020 we did 3 nights in Rome then 7 in Tuscany end if August for £700 (Cheap flights due to covid)

I'm considering driving this year now they are all bigger but I'm so undecisive!

Not quite travel but a way I save money!
We don't have loads of days out, unless they are free because when paying for 3/4 of us your looking at usually over £100 and let's be honest that's flights!
Yesterday we headed to Twycross Zoo where you pay for the day and your ticket is turned into an annual pay for the year! We hadn't been for years but there have been so many positive improvements we really enjoyed the day! And for £30 we can have many more days out during the year (I'm that picnic mum also!!)
Always worth checking if there is anything local to you to help with those travel pennies!

There are some fab cheap flights atm during Feb half term with whizz air for a quick city break, these are just a few for example! Accommodation can be found really cheap too.
Therme Spa in Bucharest is on my list so may have to book a cheeky little trip!

Who else is on the countdown to breaking up for Christmas?
Any travel plans?
None here this Christmas I'm currently on week 14 of no days off so far too tired to plan anything!
Here's a throw back to 2 years ago in lapland, im planning to go again next year! But DIY this time!
Also planning a solo trip in February whilst these 3 live their best life in Florida for 2 weeks!

Tell me the kids are going back to school, without telling me the kids are going back to school 🤣 why does it do this!

September is a blah month, no travel, no plans, just getting back into routine.

We never travel October, I don't have it off and I find it crazy expensive.

Some good deals at Parkdean though I saw for a cheeky UK break.

I have no time off now until Christmas, so unless I fall lucky with shifts for a cheeky weekend we will be going nowhere.

Anyone else got plan before Christmas?

Days out!
We opted to do a couple of trips this time as they were so reasonably priced.
First was to B&B Beers & Burgers in the town next to Pefkos, Lardos.
I booked via Facebook and they collected us from the hotel at 10am with their free transfer.
It was €18 for an adult and €15 for a child. This included sunbeds and parasol, waterpark entry, lunch and a drink and transfer to and from the hotel.
It's just a small waterpark but when been the only adult it is so much easier. There were 3 large slides and a smaller slide section alongside the pool.
Well let's say those slides are fast 🤣
There was plenty to choose from at lunch, the burgers were amazing, there was also chicken wings, chicken nuggets, hot dogs. Lots of variety.
It was so nice to do something different, its small and family run and the family were so lovely and welcoming.
We left at 5pm and got took right back to the door of our hotel!
Highly recommend if your staying within the area.

There is the larger waterpark in Rhodes also, there is a free bus from Pefkos but this was perfect for the ages of my tribe 😀

A popular question is 'how much do you spend when there'
It's a hard one to answer because everyone's budget is so different. Going self catering it can be as cheap or as expensive as you can afford.
I always take some food, cereals, thins, waffles, snacks. I buy bits to make sandwiches for lunches and have breakfast in the room. This holiday the kids didn't get up till 11 most days!
On an evening its like anywhere cheap places and expensive places. Average I would pay €30-€40 for dinner with drinks. The small 2 only drink water and I rarely drink alcohol. If you drink alcohol this bumps the price up. Max has an adults meal now but there isn't much difference in price. Most expensive meal was €65 when I had seafood and wine that night as a treat.
Then it depends what you eat, my kids live on chips, pizza and nuggets, if your having steak every night then it's more money. I had Greek dishes a lot which were so nice and cheap too!
When we came home I still had money in my revoult account and have done 2 small shops with it. Must say for the trip home take sandwiches, airports are so expensive!!!!

So our latest trip (I will do several posts on different things, with costs, and add videos to the gram stories to save)
We travelled to Rhodes, very last minute. I had been tracking flights and holidays since Christmas and nothing was really jumping out. Following the fires a lot of people cancelled their holidays so these were sold at low prices. I knew the area of Pefkos was safe as my friend has been there during the fires time
We stayed at Finas hotel and apartments, 1 bed with small kitchen and huge balcony (from which you could see the area effected by the fires) . It had a pool, supermarket, restaurant and entertainment at evening. It was a 10 minute walk to all the bars and restaurants and 15 to the beach (up hill on the way back 🥵)
We stayed 11 nights self catering and I paid £1000 (package including flights, transfers, 20kg luggage each and accommodation) It was an extra €100 for air con (definitely needed) and €16 for room tax.
I booked with with Tui but we flew priviledge, which was the biggest plane the kids have been on!!! The weather was so hot 🥵🫠 so we spent most of the time in the pools or in the sea 🌊

I've always avoided been in pictures, going in the pool, going in the sea, going down watersides, I don't feel comfortable with myself or the way I look, but my mind shape changed this year, I got in the pictures, I bombed in the sea, I flew down the waterslides.
I want my children to look back at pictures and me be there.
They see you as amazing, they don't see what you see when you look in the mirror, they don't care about what others think and neither should you.
This is your reminder to do these things and not give a damn what others think, make those memories even if inside its running through your mind what others think, your children don't think that. You are enough, you are EVERYTHING 💕

Well I went against a previous post of those vile flights and last night did one of those vile flights, but as the holiday was a cheap last minute kind of had no choice! Got home at 530 this morning so very much would rather be lying here in the sea right now 😴
I will share our Greece journey (lots of stories will be highlighted on the gram) what I paid and my thoughts once I've managed some sleep and got some of the dreaded washing done!

Money will return, time will not. Go make those memories Go chase those sunsets 💕

Top tip for self catering holidays

Pop one of these in your bag, freeze small bottles of water when your away and make your sandwiches, snacks, fruit etc.

Keeps it all cool and keeps down the costs!

We also take the thermo flask for hotdogs!!! More so on days out!

So I'm still searching for that perfect summer holiday on a budget, it's a tough challenge this year!
I'm swaying between so many different places and just can't make a decision!
I'm also quite surprised at how much package holiday fluctuate throughout the day as its not something I've searched for previously!!

Another bargain spot tonight 😉 31st August though so too late for us!

Last year I paid £380 return for the 4 of us for flights (nice flight times too!)
This year the same flights are £1300!!!!!
Same dates, same airline, same destination.

I'm beginning to consider a road trip next year if the flight prices remain the same!

But on the other had their are some fab package deals for August, but I've only ever booked 1 package since travelling alone with the kids (Lapland), it would be all new territory if we did go on one 😱

TripAdvisor.....
How much do you use and look at it?
Would it put you off booking somewhere if reviews were bad?
Do you look for hotels that have 4* plus reviews on there?

I've been looking to book a little surprise trip for my eldest to see his best friend on holiday (they go to different high schools in September) but it's proving a challenge and the TripAdvisor reviews have shocked me!

I think my searches are getting fed up with me and playing me up 🤣

I can't believe the price of flights this year! I've been tracking for a good few months now, I could literally get most places really cheap but the flights back to the UK are stupid! So much so I've even started looking at packages 😱 there are some quite good deals out there if you look around! I'm still waiting for thar tree in the garden to grow 🤣

Pic from a local festival this weekend that was free! Don't need to spend money to have fun 💗

I've been quiet lately as I've been dragging my way through the end of my second year at uni, but now I'm officially done until my final year begins in September!

Currently no plans to travel over the summer, student finance is just not cutting it and my bank hours haven't started yet, let's hope they do soon!

I'm still tracking flights and hotels but everything so far is just crazy this year 😱😱

Has anyone managed to come across any bargains yet?

The first time I took these 3 away alone was Easter 2019, they were 2,4 and 6! Just babies when I look at them in the pictures!
I booked flights for £400 and bagged an amazing last minute 4 bed detached villa with a pool the week before we went for £291!
I mean I doubt I would find something that amazing now with the whole cost of living malarkey but it gave me confidence to do it and go for it!
No plans here yet for summer, im far too indecisive and still tracking flights for now to bag the best deal before I book anything (also need to save as Tesco takes most the savings these days!)
I'm hopeful something will come up though (outbound flights in August are already starting to drop which is early!) 🌞

Just changed ours for Eurocamp and the voucher lasts a year too before you have to use it!
Trip back to Italy needed for sunsets like this 😍
