Another from our first trip out, after stopping to look at the local seal colony we caught a glimpse through the binoculars and watched as they socialized and fished whilst we enjoyed a warm drink and cake before we left them too it. I still always chuckle at the thought of seeing all the facebook and instagram posts I see saying how people tracked an otter like a Masai tracking a lion or how they used their fieldcraft, commando rolling through seaweed and being a total ninja to pop up like a meerkat from behind a rock thinking the otter has lost all sense of smell and you are know completely invisible, and no this doesn't mean it has accepted your presence its merely trying to work out why all of its prey has scarpered from here the vibrations and why there a big pink fleshy smelly beast in the way of its holt or resting spot. The Isle of Mull is one of the best places to see otters, you can walk or drive around most of our sea lochs and come across them on a regular basis, otters are best seen from a distance acting natural, there's a reason why we all have binoculars , telescopes and zoom lenses , that's right to be closer whilst we stay at a safe distance
