Spring is here on Long Island
Working on some extra training
Quick hike to see some waterfalls. Our Kid's Leader, Alex, loves finding water features on a trail. The sound of running water is peaceful and serene, plus jumping on rocks to cross over water is tons of fun. It also builds confidence and balance!
What are you looking forward to finding on a trail?
What a great weekend to hike. This group did 5 miles out of 31 on the Long Island Greenbelt trail. This trail provides the opportunity to be in nature right in our suburban backyard.
Happy New Year!
What are your hiking goals this year?
Building confidence and growing skills with mindfulness and hiking!
Wishing everyone a happy, healthy, hiking New Year 2023!

A little winter get-a-way
Here at Mindful Hikes Inc., we are dedicated to providing support to all children, for free, through the tools of hiking and mindfulness.
The social, emotional, and physical benefits are too great to list. On our last hike, our hikers worked on perseverance and resilience. They worked on motivating themselves and others. They took turns leading the group and navigating. They learned how to find signs of wildlife. More importantly, they enjoyed time in nature (away from screens and moving their bodies) with friends. They built social skills, survival skills, self regulation, and breathing techniques/coping skills without even realizing it. Afterwards they were so proud of themselves!
Keep an eye out for our mindfulness hikes for children and our outdoor yoga and mindfulness for children. These events are free!
Also watch for adult mindfulness hiking retreats, hiking and camping seminars, and guided hiking/backpacking. These are events that will soon be provided for reasonable fees in order to fund our children's services.
If you wish to have a private hike, please reach out!
Happy hiking!!!
Can mindfulness be active? The answer is yes!!
At Mindful Hikes Inc. We use hiking as a tool to learn and practice mindfulness.
Just look at these sights. You naturally feel calm surrounded by such beauty and life. The hike doesn't have to be hard, or long, to be beneficial or to bring you to a beautiful destination.
Let's go get lost and find our peace along the way.

So many reasons to slow down and BREATH
Breath for calm, breath for health, breath to feed our trees
This picture draws me in and pulls me into a natural state of meditation and mindfulness.
I have been working on writing some blogs about mindfulness, hiking, and wellness. I hope to have them ready soon.
Be present to yourself and your surroundings.. Mindfulness while hiking can be practiced in so many different ways but it always trickles down to being present in the current moment.
So many lessons come out of the present moment. For me, being present on this hike showed me that happiness can be found even in unfavorable conditions.
Got to eat breakfast and nourish my soul as the rain went away...
Escape the chaos and breath deep.
The little things? The little moments? They aren't little.

Leave No Trace Principle #5 Minimize Campfire Impact. Campfires can cause lasting impact to the enviornment. When done with your fire, burn all wood and coals into ash, put out fire completely before spreading the cool ash.
Leave No Trace #4 Leave What You Find. Observe, but do not touch. Leave rocks, plants, and other natural objects as you find them. Avoid introducing/transporting invasive species to an area. Do not build structures, furniture, or dig trenches. Happy Hiking!
LNT #2: Choose the right path. Staying on the trail and picking the right spot to camp can make a huge difference on our impact in nature.
