The new king bed is ready for our next guests. The downside of a bed frame now is that these legs angle out slightly … and Carrie and Terry have stubbed their toes on it a few times today. Ouch.

Pokagon just released their 24-25 toboggan run schedule. Running on Saturdays and Sundays December - February and extended days over the four holiday periods.

We are a GREAT place to stay for families who want some winter time “away” while spending a day or two sledding.

One recent guest said, “This is easily a 5-star place. But if you wanted it to be 6 stars, get all king sized beds.”

We love it when our guests offer suggestions to make the Sanctuary a premiere destination.

Today the main floor bedroom, one of four large bedrooms, got a new king bed! So now we have two bedrooms with king beds, one on each floor.

Exciting news! We had the privilege of hosting the production team and cast of Carol Movie at our location! It was amazing to see the behind-the-scenes action and see a musical number filmed in our living room!

From what we've seen, this movie promises to be fantastic and touching. We are looking forward to its release and can't wait to spot our space on the big screen!"

The recent surprise tropical storm event has caused some rare summer flooding, though not to the heights we get in Spring each year. Golden Lake sits on the Pigeon Creek system, which flowers into the Pigeon River, the St. Joseph River, and Lake Michigan to our northwest (see attached map). We monitor creek levels via this governmental webpage via the monitoring station downstream from Golden Lake, along US 20 https://waterdata.usgs.gov/monitoring-location/04099510/ =00065&period=P7D&showMedian=false

What a great year it's been so far, and summer just started! The water has been super warm- great for swimming (not so good for fishing).

We are already receiving bookings for NEXT summer 2025, and we still have two weeks open THIS year - July 29- August 4 and August 19-22. Plus, Labor Day is now open!

This new platform dock is our newest addition, a perfect reading spot for lazy lakeside days. Eventually it will be at the end of our dock. For now, it’s moored here for shady relief on these hot days. Bring a folding camp chair down and open a book and icy beverage. Or take a nap. It’s all good. All of it.

This week saw a few changes here at the lake. The boathouse got a facelift and so did the property line. It’s sunny and wonderful here. We have two weeks still open this summer, many autumn weekends, and all of next summer!

As we enter the busy summer season at The Sanctuary on Golden Lake, I am proud to share that we have again achieved "Premier Host" status with Vrbo. The standards are high for this achievement, so I'm grateful to the team that makes sure the place is uber-clean, welcoming, and always sunny (well, we try...). We love working with VRBO!

We still have some amazing weekends open this fall and the entire toboggan run season at Pokagon is open. Plus, there are still 2-3 weeks open for summer of 2024, but it's filling up fast.
And, as always, we're a perfect place for Trine University parents, alumni, and family to stay.

Voirol Charters are a great option for guaranteeing a great day on the water catching fish. And November is a fantastic month to be fishing for species that are elusive during the hot summer days. Smallmouth (below) and then Pike as they feed before ice-out. Book your (late 2022 or any time 2023) stay with us and then book a fishing trip that you and your kids (or friends) won't forget! Many area lakes to choose from, and Voirol will help guide you every step of the way.

There are still weekends open in November (one of the best months on the lake) through February. It's a PERFECT place for a family (or three couples) who want(s) to do the Pokagon toboggan run or just get away for a quiet lakeside time together.

The big (and not so good) news at our place is that it looks like we are next in line on Golden Lake to need a new septic system. Not sure of the details yet, but we knew replacing the septic was going to eventually be a reality when we first purchased the place, but we had hoped we could get 3-5 years out of the system by augering last year. But the clay tiles have collapsed and the roots have won.
