The Sanctuary on Golden Lake
Golden Lake is one of those “quiet lakes” that grows on people as they spend time there. Situated on Pigeon Creek, each season of the year presents new opportunities. The summer vacation season is perfect for family getaways where the pace is slower and the days long and enjoyable. The fall season is the most creative as the leaves turn and fall, where Golden Lake is at its creative best. The winter months bring time for solitude, holiday celebrations, or exploration. Spring is the most vigorous as the birds return, the fishing heats up, and the spring rains often swell the lake up the banks a remarkable distance.
Situated above Golden Lake stands this house, a gem that features four bedrooms, a massive deck with a three-season screened-in porch, and a whirlpool bath tub. Just a few minutes from both I-80/90 and I-69, the Sanctuary on Golden Lake has proved to be both a getaway and a “base” for those attending Trine University (and even Notre Dame!) events. And with Pokagon State Park and Shipshewana nearby, guests can explore one of the Midwest’s most compelling Amish communities.
We’ve been coming to Golden Lake for 20 years now and find it to be the perfect rural getaway. When this property became available, we knew we wanted to settle down here for the long-term and to share this place with others. We’ve worked to make it as guest-friendly as possible and will continue to make improvements so that others can find a place to relax, renew, and refresh in significant ways.
We have our own booking site, but the place is also available via Airbnb, VRBO, Homeaway, and Booking.com.
