Antwerp is a port city on Belgium’s River Scheldt, with history dating to the Middle Ages. In its center, the centuries-old diamond District houses thousands of diamond traders, cutters and polishers. One of Belgium’s most exciting cities! We walked through the Old Town’s Grote Markt, a central square with its Flemish Renaissance architecture. Our tour included the newly renovated Town Hall, impressive guild houses, statue of Roman Soldier, Silvius Brabo (whose myth is tied to the City’s name), and the tiny Vlaeykensgang Alley where shoemakers and cobblers resided in the 16th and 17th centuries. We stopped at the Cathedral of Our Lady, the largest Gothic cathedral in Belgium and the site of the world’s largest Rubens paintings. March evening in Düsseldorf, a city in western Germany known for its fashion industry and art scene. It's divided by the Rhine River, with its Altstadt (Old Town) on the east bank and modern commercial areas to the west. In the Altstadt, St. Lambertus Church and Schlossturm (Castle Tower) both date to the 13th century. Streets such as Königsallee and Schadowstrasse are lined with boutique shops. We arrived in Dusseldorf in the evening….so we ventured into town on a fun journey of discovery into Dusseldorf’s celebrated beer culture. We enjoyed a variety of unique and original Dusseldorf Altbier. Visited five Old Town breweries, including “the longest bar in the world”, learning about their top-fermenting yeast method which gives the beer it fruitness. Cheers! #dusseldorf #terramartravel
