BALTORO K 2 BASE CAMP TREK!
The trek to the K2 Base Camp is a popular and challenging adventure for mountaineers and trekkers. Baltoro Glacier, located in the Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan, is one of the longest glaciers outside the polar regions. K2, the second-highest mountain in the world, is situated in the Karakorum Range near the Baltoro Glacier. The trek to K 2 Base Camp typically starts from the village of Askole. To reach Askole, trekkers usually drive from Skardu, the largest town in the region, to Askole. There is access to Skardu form Islamabad by flight and by road then by jeep to Askoli 6-7 hours drive. The trek follows the Baltoro Glacier, passing through several iconic landmarks such as Paiju, Concordia, and the Godwin-Austen Glacier.
The trek to K 2 Base Camp is considered challenging due to its high altitude, rough terrain, and unpredictable weather conditions. Trekkers need to be physically fit and acclimatised to the altitude. This trek is not only a physically demanding adventure but also an opportunity to experience the stunning beauty of the Karakorum Range and witness some of the world's highest peaks. RAKAPOSHI PEAK ( 7788M), which is crown of Hunza-Nagar Valley, is a prominent peak in the Karakoram mountain range of Pakistan, located in the Nagar Valley. It stands at an impressive height of 7,788 meters (25,551 feet), making it the 27th highest peak in the world. It is part of the larger Karakoram range, which spans the borders between Pakistan, India, and China. Rakaposhi is situated in the Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan. The first successful ascent of Rakaposhi was made on June 25, 1958, by a British-Pakistani joint expedition led by Mike Banks and Tom Patey.
