THE COTTAGE IS REMOTE AND IN THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PART OF THE ISLAND. WE WOULD DEFINITELY COME BACK AGAIN!
We were very pleased with our stay at Cliff Cottage. The house is beautifully decorated and very homely. It had everything you needed, and the kitchen was very well equipped. The weather was mixed when we were there but it was very cosy. We all had a good nights sleep in the comfy beds. Marie has put so much thought into making this house a great place for a holiday. The back garden is a lovely place to sit too.

+ Everything. Outstanding accommodation. Compact and cosy with everything you need. Great attention to detail and comfort. Easy walking distance into town. Quiet, pleasant neighbourhood. Marie is extremely accommodating, contactable and helpful.

As we conclude our series on the rich history of Stornoway Town Hall, it’s fitting to bring the story up to the present day—a time when this iconic building continues to thrive as a hub of community life.

For over a century, Stornoway Town Hall has stood at the heart of our town, witnessing countless changes while maintaining its role as a central gathering place. Originally built in 1905, the Town Hall has been lovingly preserved and adapted over the years to meet the evolving needs of our community.

Today, Stornoway Town Hall serves many purposes, from housing the Harris Tweed Authority and sharing our rich heritage in the Story Room, to hosting the Stornoway Historical Society, who we have to thank for the wonderful images that captured the Hall’s past. The building also hosts the local authorities employability team, which brings a lively energy to this historic space as young people work toward their futures. In addition to these offices, the Town Hall regularly hosts weddings, music events, and craft fairs. This historic building is more than a landmark; it’s a living legacy where tradition and modernity blend.

🐾🐾 If you fancy treating your pooch to a wash and blow dry, Hungry Hounds Hebrides in Stornoway is the place to visit! View their page to watch the how-to video to operate the dog wash...

And we’re off!!!! After a long wait and numerous hurdles the dog wash is FINALLY up and running!
Payment is either coins or card.
£12 for 10 minutes (ample time for the average dog) with an option to buy extra time.
Although there is parking, it’s a shared facility so please be mindful of other users. There is plenty of space to park right next to the wash shelter.🐾🐾
