Just For One Day at The Old Vic! What a great show all about how Live Aid came about, loud and buzzy, brilliant and emotional! A real Must See! And great meal at The Cut Restaurant nearby! Highly recommended!

A huge thank you to everyone in San Cristóbal, Chiapas, where unfortunately Mr FT was taken ill, and we stayed with them an extra few days. They had changed our room to one at the end of the first floor which thankfully had a balcony where I could sit while he slept, great view of the greenery which surrounded and was central within this hotel. All the staff were so caring, the owner called out the chef to make some plain food, and the Restaurant Lum in the hotel was the best! We loved San Cristobal, and would highly recommend this hotel if you are lucky to visit this area.

Frida Kahlo - some valuable history on this amazing artist, whose home we visited in Mexico City:
Frida Kahlo, was a renowned Mexican artist known for her unique and vibrant self-portraits. She faced physical and emotional challenges due to a bus accident in her youth, which led to emotive and powerful works of art often reflecting pain and resilience. Kahlo’s work is celebrated for its symbolic elements, offering a glimpse into her personal struggles and Mexican culture. Her legacy continues to inspire and impact the world of art.
Frida Kahlo married the renowned Mexican painter Diego Rivera. Their relationship was complex, marked by intense passion, artistic collaboration, and occasional tumult. They married in 1929, divorced in 1939, and then remarried the following year. Both were influential artists, their works reflected political and social themes. Their relationship endured until Kahlo’s death in 1954. Their dynamics have become a subject of fascination and study in art history.

A story of our time hotel in Oaxaca. A few points to stand out are:
1) this is a Conceptual hotel
2) every available space in the hotel offers tables and chairs for eating breakfast or snacks (fresh mini sandwiches and biscuits, fruit and drinks) and sofas on which to relax
3) there is no actual restaurant within the hotel
4) managed by the wonderful Edwin who looks after everyone
5) you have to order breakfast from an app! But in reality the waiters will take your order and make more or less whatever you want, really nice food!

So our first night, I must admit was not a good experience, since as some reviews mention, there is a nightclub at the back of the hotel, which has caused them endless problems, and they are not meant to open on a Sunday night but guess what? They did! And our room was bouncing with thumping music until 3.23am whereupon I managed to get just 3 hours sleep! Edwin was so apologetic and immediately transferred us to a larger room in the middle of the hotel called Luna, and he gave us some chairs and tables to accommodate our luggage.
We spent a great couple of days in Oaxaca and the hotel was extremely friendly and helpful, my only desire was to have somewhere to sit out in the sun for an hour on returning from a days tour, unfortunately the sun only hits the courtyard centre, but the good news is that hopefully they are making a roof terrace which sounds amazing!
So if you are going to Oaxaca for a weekend with hand luggage, this is a great place to stay, and if, like ourselves, you are doing a stop as part of a longer tour with more luggage, make sure to get a larger room, Luna is a good one! Rest assured you will be looked after by Edwin!

We made it! After a long day travelling, 5 hours in Mexico City airport, we got to the Quinta Real hotel, and even got a hammock, think that I will probably fall out of it but that’s another day! Beautiful views, can’t wait to see it in the daylight!

So a review of Aeromexico flights! First of all, they are totally unreliable, cancel flights, change flight times, don’t give refunds for 16 weeks! But unfortunately when you visit Mexico, the only airlines available are Aeromexico and Hahn Air (Volaris), so there’s not much choice! The other major drawback when touring in Mexico is that wherever you go, one HAS TO FLY BACK TO MEXICO CITY! This means two flights in a day if you are lucky enough to be able to coordinate them!
So in order to get out of San Cristobal and onto our final stop, we were forced to pay $1800 for our tickets in Premier, as these were the only tickets available!
So actually I think this is the only way forward 😂😂 more legroom, a blanket and room to put all my bits!

Day out with Roberto, to Chamula where we saw how the women all dress in the most expensive thick lambswool skirts which show their wealth or status, even in hot weather, and the men wear their white lambswool tunics denoting their status too! Then we visited the Cathedral in zocalo San Cristobal, where Roberto grew up in the palace attached to the Cathedral, as he lived with his mother, brothers and his uncle who was the Bishop JTatic, so many amazing stories he has to tell! Especially the one where the brothers climbed up the bell tower, over the roof and out for the night, naughty boys 🤣

Thanks everyone for your concern about Mr FT, am pleased to report that he is finally feeling bit better today! Still on meds and eating a bit, had a good sleep and looking forward to a relaxing day! Tuesday morning we take 2 flights to the beach for 3 days then home to London que es frío 🤣

A great day out in Puebla city with our lovely guide Karla, starting at the famous library, tasting sweet biscuits on Kandy Street, visiting the Baroque church, one of 120 in the city alone! Then lunch on a roof terrace overlooking zocalo square, and the Amparo Museo, so interesting. Our day then culminated by searching for chipotle, árbol and guajillo chillies after getting a request from no. 2 daughter! Don’t ask, but we now got 3kg of Mexican chillies………….

We have just left Gran Hotel Ciudad de Mexico, where we enjoyed a four night stay. It is an older style historic hotel, which was converted from a shopping centre! We had an interior view master suite which was very spacious with a separate lounge area, bed and pillows very comfortable, the terrace restaurant for breakfast was good with views across Zocalo square. The location is excellent because you can walk around the square and shops right on the doorstep, the only drawback being that it is very quiet with not much going on, but staff very helpful and there’s a 24hour room with drinks and snacks available too. Would definitely recommend for a short stay!

A wonderful meal overlooking the square, great ambience, food was so good, they served us amuse bouche, lovely bread with chocolate butter and salt! Highly recommended and great view of the square!

Well January is that time of year when people are booking a winter sun holiday to get away from the cold!
If anyone has received a BA Companion voucher then now is the time to use it for January 25! Get booking! India is very easy to access, fly into Mumbai or Chennai, lots of seats available, and contact me for ideas!
These packing cubes will guarantee stress free packing! Plus your plastic pouches for liquids etc, simples!

It’s not often we get the opportunity to see a genius, and watching tonight perform was one of those special privileges! The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra were superb as was the beautiful accompanying pianist. Truly magical!

We have encountered antisemitism for the first time in Spain, a poster up in the window of our local cafe, showing there was a pro Palestinian march in the square last Friday. We were appalled and I approached someone about it, then my husband joined in and for a while it got a bit heated, but we explained to him that we are Jewish and it was obvious that he only sees one side of the story, and the massacre by Hamas is forgotten, replaced by seeing Israel bombing innocents. We put him straight but we are left with a feeling that here, in what has been our happy space for so many years, we now do not know what our so called friends and acquaintances here are thinking. But we will always stick up for the truth and try to show it to others……..praying for all those who are suffering, Bring Them Home …….

A wonderful dinner for our anniversary! A glass of Prosecco on the house for the occasion, then all my favourite foods! Scallops with champagne sauce, followed by sole off the bone and even had the Portuguese Pudim for dessert! Well worth a visit!
Service was excellent so attentive, ending with an armagegna to finish! Thanks!

Just attended a Challah Bake which was held for all the people and soldiers in Israel, it was a privilege to be there with the wonderful women of our Jewish community, coming together with prayers and song in the hope of helping to bring them home and to feed those in the front line.
We will light our candles tomorrow for shabbos and pray for them all.

Great evening in London Bridge, an excellent immersive show, if you haven’t seen it get tickets! Was an excellent production and loved the experience! Preceded by Beyond Food , which was perfect for pre theatre meal. Good company, food and entertainment, who can ask for anything more! Luck be a lady tonight!

I thought that maybe we might be a bit late as our flight from Faro was due to land 21.20 but did not expect that after over an hour delay which ended up 1.5 hours, we then sat for over half an hour waiting for steps to arrive ( of course they weren’t expecting any planes to land!) and now after getting on a bus which drove round endlessly, we arrive at baggage claim to find no baggage here yet! What have you been doing ??
We have now missed our train home, will have to get an Uber for £100, plus when I requested a refund on our £18 train tickets, was charged a £10 admin fee? Really ?? This country certainly has a lot to answer for due to complete inefficiency! Who knows what time we will reach home…….

Another great meal with the lovely Graham our charming host! Food is always excellent, the best steak in town! Good service and ambiance, even a perfect Portuguese style flan with some added squirty cream at my request! Great time! Highly recommended!

Stunning beach day in Portugal, a very liquid Sangria lunch then the beach which is beautiful, perfect temperature, all the seagulls were lined up there, how lucky to be just 20 minutes away from this wonderful scene! We are grateful to have visited some spectacular beaches in the far east but this place is certainly up there! Happy to get some last rays of summer sun! The restaurant is great except we have noticed that unfortunately you get far less value and portions, but still a lovely day finished off with Strictly Come Dancing! Couldn’t ask for more…….

Another great meal at the Mars Bar in Manta Rota, Portugal. It’s really great food, the best chicken and ribs! Does exactly what it says on the tin every time! Highly recommended if you are in the area!

Some highlights from España and Portugal!Bar Nuevo for coffee, visit to Vila Real, always buzzing in the square, another dinner always a good Argentinian steak plus wonderful tomatoes! And then to the current rain! But all is not lost, sun sun ☀️ from tomorrow, yep! Bring on the last rays of summer…….

Great evening in Vila Real, Portugal, eating overlooking the beach, lovely setting and ambiance, plus delicious food! Highly recommended! But take a jacket as can be a bit chilly even in the heat 😂

So yesterday was VJ DAY here in the UK, and there was a fitting tribute to our veterans who served and suffered during the war.
