Road trip to Spiti valley
Spiti , a land of monks, monasteries, deep in the valley of the mighty
Himalayan desert, along the Indo-Tibetan border. The rivers Spiti and Pin
make their way through the desert mountain valley.
Religion plays a major role in the lives of the people. In the words of
Rudyard Kipling, “it is a world within a world” and “a place where the Gods
live” in his book Kim. Colorful prayer flags, whitewashed Chortens, scores
of Mani, the sound of the prayer gongs and chant of ”Om Mani Padma
Hum” echoes on the mountains on a silent night, bring prosperity to the
