It’s no secret that we love the Red River Gorge, there’s always something to marvel at and celebrate. This is one of those things we celebrate each year - the opening of the roads in the Daniel Boone National Forest!
A gentle reminder, while this is our public land, respectfully it is the ancestral land of the Shawnee and Cherokee people. Please visit the area with curiosity and kindness, leave trails better than you find them and please be patient as services may be limited and you might have to change your preferred plans.
We are here to help you to plan your trip and share alternative options. And as a ready resource 7-days a week, please visit our friends at Powell County Tourism - Red River Gorge, they are amazing souls and have their finger on the pulse of RRG happenings. They will share suggestions and maps to equip you for self-navigation!
We’re excited for the 2025 busy season and hope to get to share some of the awe and wonder with you!
All Red River Gorge roads closed for the winter season will reopen to motorized use tomorrow (3/8). Closing these roads in winter protects them from taking extra damage from freezing and thawing, but, now that the Forest is warming up, Indian Creek 9B, Chimney Top, Rock Bridge & Tunnel Ridge roads will be fully reopened!
