You can be disappointed by a “dry hole with very few stalagmites and stalactites” or discover nothing “other than trees” on over 80+ miles of hiking, biking, horseback riding, and water trails. (Fair warning – there are bugs in the outdoors, cellular phone service is spotty, and there are stairs on some of our cave tours.)

How many days should you spend at Mt Rainier National Park? We recommend two. On average, 60% of visitors don't see the summit or volcano's peak due to clouds or fog. But when you do - absolutely stunning!

Have you seen and use the zipper merge method for lane closures? What type of driver are you: merge ASAP or zipper at the closure?

Let's talk about the ole Zipper Merge.

This maneuver, where appropriate, doesn't waste lane space & keeps traffic moving.

Both lanes safely approach the lane closure, then take turns entering the travel lane.

Honestly, most people don't seem to know about this method, so pass it on.

As a final note: If you are the type of person who thinks you are doing the world a favor by driving down the center line to prevent others from zipper merging...STOP IT. You are doing it wrong, not them.
