DAY 6:

•Breakfast at the hotel
•Transfer to Qakh
•Qakh city tour
•The Qakh region of Azerbaijan has a long history dating back to ancient times. Archeological excavations suggest the area had been populated during Eneolithic, Bronze and early Iron Ages. What remains of these early inhabitants' activities indicates they engaged largely in sedentary cultivation, animal-breeding and art. According to historians, the territory of Qakh was a part of the Scythian Kingdom in the 7th century B.C.
•Initially this territory of modern Qakh was a province of Caucasian Albania. After that, the region was a separate kingdom of Kakheti within Georgian cultural and political influence. During the medieval era what later became known as Saingilo was mostly controlled by the kingdom of Georgia and Shirvan.
•Ilisu is the most popular village of Gakh. There was "Ilisu Sultanlıgı" before. There are many historical monuments is Ilisu such as Sumuk (Sumu) Qala, Shamil (Sheyk Shamil, who was the great leader of the fighters against Russian occupation) Qala, İlisu Mescidi and etc. Ilisu has excellent nature.
•All of the two-storied houses in the ancient centre of Gakh known as Icheribazar (which dates back to the 15th century) have balconies to allow people to hide from rain, snow and sunshine.

•Sheki city tour Sheki is one of the most famous and ancient places of Azerbaijan. Situated 700 m (2297 ft.) above sea level like an amphitheatre surrounded by the mountains and forests of oak trees, this ancient city was long famed as a silk centre and an important stop on the Great Silk Route.
•Palace of Sheki Khans – summer residence of local ruler built without a single nail. The basic material for building the palace was raw bricks, river stones, plane trees and oaks. The most amazing is that not a single nail or glue drop was used for the construction! Everything is in place due to special craftsmanship, the secret of which was lost and is now being brought back to life by local artisans. The Palace of Shaki Khans was nominated for List of World Heritage Sites, UNESCO
•Museum of carpets, Shebeke craft workshop, Sheki bazaar
•Shakikhanov's palace, is a monument of Azerbaijani architecture, located in the Sheki preserve area. The structure is a mixture between the standard vernacular of homes in the area and a palace. A two-storied building with a long, rectangular shape is similar to palace buildings, while the interior decorative elements are more in the style of the interior of Sheki houses. Each floor consists of three rooms and two small corridors. The rooms on the first floor have winter halls, where "bukharis" (fireplaces) are placed. The second floor, similar to the first floor, is designed for guests.

Yanardag. The Burning Mountain
Yanardag stands apart from the main part of the ridge that runs along the Absheron Peninsula. If you imagine the mountains of the North Caucasus in the guise of warriors lined up from the Black Sea to the Caspian, then YANARDAG (Azerbaijan. BURNING MOUNTAIN) is the closing, carrying a burning torch. The Great North Caucasian Ridge ends with a mountain, from the foot of which a pure flame bursts out, which is symbolized by God himself.
In the place of the largest accumulation of these natural fires, a Temple of Fire Worshippers was founded before our era. And the Turks gave Absheron the toponym “Odlar Yurdu” (The Land of Lights). The fact is that under the ground of the peninsula everything is oversaturated with hydrocarbons. Oil and gas are in a state of incessant chemical reactions, they pump up pressure, which asks for outside and breaks out to the surface of the earth through volcanic activity – mud, or in the form of a pure flame.
