Hiking in Kent

In August I am embarking on my biggest challenge yet to raise money for WWF UK. Hiking from Sittingbourne, Kent close to 700 miles across the UK's three peaks, Snowdon, Scafell Pike and ending at the summit of Ben Nevis, aiming to raise £10000. The Parkland Trail around .

Two miles of moderate walking, taking in the landscape and history of Scotney Castle, and if you arrive on foot, it's free. Parking charge for non national trust members and free parking if you are a member.

I'm often following the Saxon Shore Way, this time through Deal. A path riddled with history, and takes in Kents beautiful coast lines.

Chillenden Windmill sent in by . This windmill was built in 1868, and is one of only four post Mills to survive in Kent. Scroll to the left to see the route of where this Mill can be witnessed.

Kent is home to some of the UKs most beautiful woodland, Sharsted Woods near Newnham, Kent is a particular favourite especially as down this track leads you into the stunning Doddington Place Gardens

Follow the River Stour path, part of the Saxon Shore Way from Richborough Castle towards Ramsgate and you may stumble across this derelict building riddled with some amazing graffiti

The North Downs Way part of the Wye and North Downs circular walk. 4.7 miles taking in Kents best views, sadly on while hiking it was not the best of weather. This route takes in the Devil's Kneading Trough, one of the most famous steep-sided dry valleys on the North Downs. On wet days just pack those wellies, especially through the freshly ploughed fields.

You simply can't beat that feeling of walking through ploughed crops on a summers day. Especially when there is a pub at the other end.

93 hectares of countey park in the heart of Kent. The park takes you on a journey thriufh many habitats, including six lakes; flower rich grasslands; shallow wetlands; scrub; woodland and a newly conceived Wildflower Meadow.

Take a stroll into Sharsted Woods, a beautiful array of Oak Woodland which leads you into the exquisite gardens of Doddington Place.

An area of importance for international birds such as Geese, ducks and waders.

Bulls getting in the way on the North Downs Way at Hucking Estates. Once past the bulls you are blessed with one of Kent's finest views across Maidstone and Leeds Castle.

The Devil's Kneading Trough, named after bowl-shaped appearance. One of Kents most dramatic views in the heart of Kent Downs AONB. From here you can see the Kentish Weald to Romney Marsh and as far as the English Channel.

The North Downs Way National Trail. Runs for 153 miles from Farnham in Surrey to the White Cliffs of Dover. This trail runs parallel with the old Pilgrims way, and takes in some of the best history and views Kent has to offer.
