Immediately when I saw this on my timeline, I was thinking 🤔💭 I would love to be somewhere out of the country, learning this.
I’m googling every hashtag trying to figure out what style of dance this is. I learn that it is called Cumbia and originated in Colombia when the Spanish brought African slaves to the Caribbean coast! 🤯
It was a courtship dance that the slaves would do. They would wear certain attire and the men would present the women with candles.
With me knowing just that small amount of information, I’m even more determined to go out of the country! I would love to learn about the culture of the African slaves who were brought to the Caribbean!
