Roads are for cyclists.

Countryside roads should be tractor free on Sundays to allow cyclists the right to roam and exercise.

Whilst out with our cycle club at the weekend we were harassed by a farmer in his tractor impatiently trying to get past us! No manners at all he was shouting something about us being 4 abreast in the language of "peasant countryside"

No one works on a Sunday so I'm sure the grain in the trailer could have been moved on the Monday to allow everyone to enjoy the fields and scenery in peace!

Farmers just don't respect modern country ways!

Went for a ride with Darren last week.
Started at a great cafe on the river in Co Giang.
The unsurfaced road was mostly pretty bad, but the scenery was great.

Post lockdown trip out to look at some new surfacing between Cu Lac 1 and the HCM East. The West side of the loop is on the existing Cu Lac 1 to Cu Lac 2 road. The North and South sides of the loop are brand new concrete. The East side of the loop is mud at the moment, but should be finished fairly soon. The road marked in red, connecting the North side of the loop to the French road; is currently 80mm gravel.

East Hill is a great place to go for BBQ chicken with cheo, sticky rice, crushed peanuts and cucumber. 8-14 km from the centre of Phong Nha; dependent on how much of an appetite you wish to build up. They do delivery as well; if you are already hungry. Cracking sunset spot too.

Met this guy and his friend on Tra Ang bridge(~15km South of Phong Nha), they were on their way from South to North through Vietnam, they had turned around to say hi. Vietnam is a great country to cycle through.

This is a WALK. Planned using a combination of the US military maps, updated 1989; and Google satellite mapping.

Cu Lac 2 to Pub With Cold Beer. Approx 9km.
This is a WALK, NOT a cycle route; it can be cycled but you would be doing a lot of carrying. This route has a lot of short steep hills. It is just about followable on the Google Maps satellite view.
