🌧️ Situation Update: Severe Flooding in Northern Thailand 🌧️
Since August, the northern provinces of Thailand, including Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai, have faced devastating flooding. Tragically, at least 52 people have lost their lives so far, according to reports from the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation. While some international media outlets have focused on the heartbreaking story of two elephants at a popular tourism centre, we urge everyone to remember that countless people are in desperate need of support. Today, the water is beginning to subside, but there are still people cut off without supplies, and a city-wide cleanup effort still lies ahead of us.

🚨 What This Means for You 🚨

For our valued partners, we are closely monitoring the situation on the ground and working directly with each of you on a case-by-case basis regarding any affected bookings. If any of your clients have travel plans to the impacted areas, rest assured we are providing alternative arrangements and solutions wherever necessary.

🤝 How You Can Help 🤝

While direct action might be challenging from overseas, we are here to assist with any support or donations you or your clients may wish to provide. Key local efforts include:

CM Force, an emergency aid group set up by the local municipality, is delivering vital supplies to vulnerable communities, including children and bedridden patients who have been stranded without food for days. The biggest challenge isn’t a lack of food, but the logistical hurdles in getting it to those in need. This is where CM Force come in.

It's also crucial to focus donations where they can make the most significant and sincere impact. Rather than donating to individual camps, Lampang Elephant Hospital is coordinating aid efforts for the elephant camps in the Mae Taeng area. The hospital's team of vets and elephant welfare specialists is assessing the urgent care needs across all camps fairly, ensuring that elephants without strong media representation also receive the help they need.

Our focus on reducing the economic leakage of Thailand's tourism sector, improving social equity and inclusivity, closing the gender gap, and tackling discriminatory practices faced by the local workforce has set us apart.

This global competition is dedicated to social innovation and entrepreneurship in tourism and hospitality. It provides social entrepreneurs with access to expert knowledge, a mentoring program, and international visibility, aiming to transform the sector and shape a sustainable future for tourism.
