Tenganan Pegeringsingan Village in East Bali

Luke and I jumped on a scooter and visited this beautiful, ancient village where the Bali Aga people have lived for generations, the oldest inhabitants of Bali. The renowned double Ikat cloth is made here, along with other traditional authentic crafts and calligraphy. There were almost no tourists here when we visited.

Up the top we visited the honey lady and tasted her delicious honey and sat down and had a cup of tea with her.

Unfortunately the first day we all felt well enough to venture out for the day was our last day in Sanur. We headed to Bali Zoo for breakfast with the orangutans 🦧. Not only was breakfast delicious but you got up close with some amazing animals. We got to hold a pangolin (armadillo looking animal) but our favourites were the elephants and lemurs.

It’s been a while between posts because between the girls and I we’ve been sick for over a week. We had the most amazing time exploring Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Cenigan. Next time I’ll be stayed at least a week though. This place is paradise. We hired scooters for $7 a day and explored the two islands. I had wanted to go and check out Penida but unfortunately that will have to wait till next time. We did manage to swim with the manta rays though!

I can’t believe it was one year ago today that we left little old Maffra to embark on a trip of a lifetime. I miss the simplicity and adventure of life on the road. I’m looking forward to the next one whenever that may be. (The photo is one of my drone pics of the Dampier Peninsula)…. aaah take me back!!!!

Sadly our little adventure came to an end last week and we’re back home in Victoria, (with Luke heading back to work today). We had the most amazing time exploring this beautiful country of ours (even though I’ll be cleaning red dust out of the van for a very long time). In the 197 days we were away, we travelled over 26,000km and spent $7,765 on fuel. These photos are from Kings Canyon. The rim walk was our favourite walk of the whole trip. If you get a chance to do a trip like this do it. You won’t regret it!

Luke was a nutter and thought it was a good idea to run around the rock... the girls and I did it at a more leisurely pace. They were a bit slow to begin with but once we got some momentum they were off. They walked over 10km and only complained the whole freaking way! 😂

I never realised Uluru was so multi faceted, it looked completely different at each turn.

We took off from Alice and spent four nights in the West Mac Ranges. We almost didn’t go here because we were running a little behind but we are so glad we did. The beauty of this place blew us away. We were worried we wouldn’t be able to fill four nights but we could have stayed much longer. These pics are of Simpsons Gap.

We’ve actually hit SA now and are beginning our descent so I thought I’d better play catch up and show you the last few places we visited. Alice Springs was amazing... a city surrounded by the MacDonnell ranges. The Desert Park with their birds of prey demonstration was a great day out. We checked out the airport to see hundreds of planes sitting around doing nothing. We also got to try the new sushi restaurant and the girls got such a thrill out of seeing their lunch travelling around on the sushi train.

I tried booking a place in Robe but it was full. I didn’t realise it was a long weekend but luckily we managed to snag ourselves a spot at this awesome RV park in Kingston SE (I’d never heard of the place)! $10 for up to three nights and straight across from the beach. We are absolutely loving SA. You can drive on the beaches and even drag your van on there and camp if you’re game!

Traffic incident in the tunnel so we took a slight detour!
