I can't remember when I first fell in love with the magic of Disney. I remember several special trips as a child to both Disney World and Disneyland with my family.
On one of my trips as a child I saw a door outside of Epcot that read, "Cast Members." I bravely knocked and went inside. For my efforts I was given a copy of the weekly Cast Member newsletter, the “Eyes & Ears.” It was printed (yes, back in the 80’s it was printed) each week with details of everything happening all over the World. Right then and there I decided one day I would work at Disney World.
The dream never died. When I had the chance to participate in the College Program and be a part of the Opening Crew of Disney’s Hollywood Studios I jumped at the chance. Following the completion of my degree in Communications from the University of Texas at Austin, I packed my car and drove back to Orlando to become a full-time Cast Member working in Resorts.
As a full time (called a "Perm" in Disney lingo) Cast Member I worked at the Contemporary Resort, the Grand Floridian Beach Resort, the Walt Disney Travel Company, facilitated the “Insider Tips” program, trained resort hosts and hostesses on the computer system and helped to open the first phase of the All-Star Resorts. I also worked several special events including the NBA All-Star party at the Studios and the first ever Disney Wedding.
