Tradicionalmente el jugo de las hojas era utilizado para mejorar los trastornos renales dadas sus propiedades diuréticas. Es comestible pero además tiene un buen uso externo: las hojas se pueden usar para tratar pequeñas heridas ó llagas, así como hemorroides y sabañones.

Traditionally the juice of the leaves was used to improve kidney disorders due to its diuretic properties. It is edible but also has a good external use: the leaves can be used to treat small wounds or sores, as well as hemorrhoids and chilblains.🥸☝

☝🌱🥸The cosco is a wild plant (Mesembryanthemum nodiflorum,) widespread throughout the island of Fuerteventura. The Majorero farmers have traditionally collected it with a dual purpose. On one hand it served as a barilla that was exported to be used in the manufacture of soap.
On the other hand, the seeds of the plant were collected and used as food to make gofio, slightly salty, but highly prized for its nutritional qualities.

(Mesembryanthemum crystallinum) Barrilla is a plant that is distributed in open nitrophilized soils, often salty, such as salt pans or salt marshes. They grow spontaneously in the coastal areas of the Canary Islands, being found up to an altitude of 300 meters.
It was used to obtain caustic soda, to manufacture soaps, dyes, etc.☝🥸🌱💚

☝️🤓 Stalactites are created by the fall of water droplets filtered through the rock. These drag minerals that, as they fall, deposit small layers in their path.
