With two little ones of our own (Palmer & Woods), we understand the importance of activities for the whole fam. Here are a few of our local, kid-friendly favs:

🛝 Atagahi Park in Connestee Falls: Atagahi Park offers a playground area specifically designed for children. The park also has a picnic pavilion, basketball court, and a walking trail. Your little ones will have a blast running around and playing while you relax and enjoy the scenic views.

🧺 Franklin Park near Downtown Brevard: Franklin Park is a great place to bring your kids for a family picnic. The park has a large playground area, tennis courts, and a basketball court. The kids can burn off all that energy while the parents can enjoy a relaxing afternoon amongst nature.

💎 Crystal Mountain Gem Mine Downtown Brevard: Crystal Mountain Gem Mine is a unique experience for both children and adults. They can mine for gems and learn about the different types of rocks and minerals. Your little ones will have lots of fun finding treasures to take home.

🧸 O.P. Taylor's Toy Store in Downtown Brevard: O.P. Taylor's Toy Store is a must-visit for families with children. The store has a wide selection of toys and games that your kids will love. They have everything from classic board games to the latest toys and gadgets.

🥤 Rocky's Soda Shop: Rocky's Soda Shop is a nostalgic experience for both children and adults. This diner-style restaurant serves classic American food, but the real highlight is the old-fashioned soda fountain. Your kids will love the ice cream floats and milkshakes, and you'll love the retro atmosphere.

Looking to make some unforgettable Memorial Day memories? Let us introduce you to White Squirrel Weekend in Downtown Brevard! 🐿️

This fun street festival honors (you guessed it) white squirrels -- siblings to the gray Eastern tree squirrel. This species made its way to Brevard in 1949 due to a carnival wreck in central Florida, and are celebrated during Memorial Day Weekend with activities for all ages -- including great music, food, arts & crafts!

Locals will tell you these are the best hikes in Brevard...

⛰️ Amakola Trail in Connestee Falls: This 1.5-mile trail is suitable for all skill levels and offers stunning views of waterfalls and mountain vistas. It’s a great location for birdwatching and is perfect for families with small children.

⛰️ Looking Glass Rock: This challenging, 6.5-mile hike is well worth the effort. The trail takes you to the top of a granite dome that provides breathtaking views of the surrounding Pisgah National Forest.

⛰️ Rainbow Falls: This hike is a popular destination for photographers and nature enthusiasts. The trail is 3.9 miles long and includes a stunning waterfall that drops over 150 feet into a pool below.

⛰️ Graveyard Fields: This 3.2-mile hiking trail is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains and features two waterfalls and miles of beautiful wildflowers. In the fall, the leaves turn bright shades of orange and red, making it an ideal spot for leaf-peeping.

⛰️ Dupont State Forest: 15 minutes from the house; With over 80 miles of trails, Dupont State Forest is a hiker’s paradise. Highlights include Triple Falls, Ho**er Falls, and High Falls. These trails range from easy to challenging and offer breathtaking views of the landscape.

Fun fact: Sierra & I got engaged at Connestee Falls! The hike down Amakola Trail to the Falls was the longest and most nerve-wracking 15 minutes of my life...

Not because I was afraid she would say no, but because my jacket pocket had a big box in it and no zipper! 😅

Once we got down to the underlook, I got down on one knee and created a memory that will last a lifetime.

Brevard is such a special place. And creating memories like this for our guests is what we live for.
