StaySavvy works across all of these areas to advise our partners on better practices - so we can make a real, tangible difference!

Clearly, transport is a huge chunk - so we also have ambitious goals to educate & promote better options to travellers - such as electric cars & public transport 🔋🚙🚆

Exploring domestic trips rather than going abroad occasionally can also make a big difference - cutting down those flight emissions ✈️

The new report on climate change, unfortunately, does not make for easy reading 🌎 🔴

UN Secretary-General said the report was "a code red for humanity“ with severe heatwaves, floods, droughts & other extreme weather becoming more frequent without immediate & large-scale emission reductions

However, we remain hopeful as always...

While we believe, ultimately, that governments must stand up and make the big changes - we can always do our part & be a business for good

Travel & hospitality contributes roughly 8% to global emissions & our mission is to help reduce those emissions in every way we can

Well this tweet certainly caused a stir last week...

Allegra Stratton - spokeswoman for PM Boris - suggested we shouldn’t rinse dishes before putting them in the dishwasher 🧼 💧 as well as other small green steps

Now we’ll always encourage & promote individual actions to help the planet 🌍 but we certainly question if this is seriously a suggestion worthy of Allegra’s attention given her role for the UK ahead of COP26 in Glasgow...

This is far from the level our COP26 team needs to be working at when the eyes of the world are on Glasgow this November & while wildfires and floods devastate global communities

Real, ambitious & bold systemic change is required and must come from the government. Especially considering facts like recent reports saying 71% of global emissions are caused by just 100 multinational companies 🤯

Investing in green industries to generate affordable clean energy & a global effort to curb fossil fuel emissions is urgently needed and must come from the government

We need a big step up from & before November to set an example to the world

Today is ‘Earth Overshoot Day’ 🌎

A reminder when our worldwide demand for ecological resources & services in a given year exceeds what our planet can regenerate in that 12-month period

For the remainder of 2021 - we are, unfortunately, living at the expense of future generations

Optimistically though - there are solutions & options to ensure we can move this date in the coming years...

Avoid that wishcycling on your travels & at home ♻️

Some councils may differ so you can check on their websites to see what they can recycle correctly

It's very important to ensure they are empty & free of any liquids or food - you can cut out parts that contain plastic or are contaminated (like the grease on a pizza box)

Well that was an eventful weekend wasn't it...

Branson went to space 🚀, Ashleigh Barty had a party 👏, Djokovic won another major 🎾 & well, we won't mention the other result... ⚽

Needless to say, the whole StaySavvy team stand beside the lads & we look ahead to the world cup next year 🏆

It's most certainly coming home... we just didn't specify 'when' 😉

As for the unfortunate events following the game...

Marcus Rashford, Bukayo Saka and Jadon Sancho are inspirations, incredible athletes & true role models. To even step up to that line takes more courage, vulnerability and strength than we will have in a lifetime. We support our lions 100% 🦁

Yesterday was Day - created by - a scientist in the National Centre for Atmospheric Science (NCAS)

These visualisations show how global temperatures have increased between 1850 - 2020 (+1.2 degrees C) & it is projected to reach 1.5 degrees C between 2030 & 2052

The is very real & we must step up our efforts globally to avoid serious issues in the future 🌎
